Nah, I was at a party where somebody put Bjork on Spotify and no matter how much I like Bjork I just wanted to punch people until it got turned off. haha. Bjork is just more home music.

I'd rather put on KUKL for what it is worth.

I used to go to the bar and put the extended/original Kraftwerk "Autoban" on like 30 times in a row to cut through the constant stream of "Save a horse, ride a cowboy". haha.

At my wife's party with the other doctors in her office, they kept putting on Rhianna, Jay-Z and Kanye...I paid a ton to just get some Buck Owens, Count Five, Junior Brown, Dead Kennedys, Kraftwerk, DEVO, Motorhead, Misfits, etc on the jukebox...this one lady came up to my wife and said "this bar has the weirdest music selection...I don't get it but it is awesome, I haven't heard these songs in years". My wife laughed. Then we watched a 75 year old doctor dance to "Streets of Bakersfield" and "Highway Patrol" and it was a blast.

Hey, I still get to give my wife a hard time for liking that soundtrack! haha. Something good did come out of that movie.
If I never head the words New York or Umbrella in a song again, I would be better off. haha...if only she were white... She'd actually get a kick out of that picture. (She loves the Shins too)

I think everybody I know is a muso so i'm not sure I can relate to this party talk? Unless you put on Grindcore most people are cool and even then it's 50/50 (EDIT: This is probably largely to do with the fact that I am cliquey as fuck and don't get out much). I think part of my hate for Tame Impala is that they're boring and I have seen them more than any other local band (perhaps more than any band peroid) with the exception of friends projects. They are the only set I've ever fallen asleep during apart from Oasis at a festival.

This song induces ptsd in me though. Played it into the fucking ground for years. Every fucking set I saw, they played it. Every party, some cunt put it on.

I always feel bad about falling asleep during bands's sets but sometimes you can't help it. Esp. if it's late and in a dark bar. I'm headed to a show tonight on like no sleep when I have to wake up early tomorrow and the napping likelihood is high even though all the bands playing are rad and rowdy.

I think with my friends we have my wife that likes 80s synth pop and Brit Pop, me with punk and anything I find kinda funny or strange, a super prog friend (also is in love with Tame Impala, muse and radiohead), techno/chamber music stoner guy, modern pop music lady*, her singer songwriter little sister that only wants to hear poems over acoustic guitar, a few dead head/jam band people here and there, and some r+b/rap people (focused more on stuff like drake). Then we also have the one lady that just wants to drink and hates music...these people are at every party...I'm the only one that can really listen to anything as long as it is kinda fun and not repeative (in the bad Rihanna, Beyonce, or some techno/calvin harris ways)..I jsut don't give a shit. But most people are so close minded around here (I only want this) and never try different music.

I fell asleep at Tool...I was dehydrated as fuck after working on pressure vessels all day in the California desert sun. haha. Was kinda pissed they jipped Tomahawk on there sound too.

Tool was boring as fuck live at that show (they's ok on recordings though, but at that show...not good).

I fell asleep at Weezer at a basement show...kinda. They played three songs and walked out the alley saying they are "Signing autographs". (I took my girlfriend at the time, not a weezer fan) I thought it was like an intermission and fell asleep by their equipment waiting for that girl to come back. She did but the roadie told us to get the fuck out because the show was over. Worst $15 I ever spent trying to date a horrible woman. :idk:

So glad I met my wife haha.

*she was all confused about the song that came on her spotify once...haha, like "who is this new band?"...it was the Vibrators  "Well, I didn't put that on there...this isn't black keys...but it is really good...wait, you guys all know them?"

Tool is beyond reproach and anything to the converse is heresy.

Hey, I like Tool. I mean I went to see them because I really was into them at the time and with Mike Patton and the Melvins opening I thought "wow, this is going to be amazing!" Just don't think they liked playing my home town :idk: . And somebody fucked the sound too. I have all their albums (sorry if anyone likes A Perfect Circle though...I tried and it sucked). Show was pretty empty too. My "seat" was in the upper deck and it was dark as shit. Just got off a 12 hour shift in the sun...not a soul around me for like six rows...couldn't help it :idk:

It happens a lot actually. My dad said when he saw Sabbath, Priest, etc they all left their cool sets and junk in LA and just phoned it in for Bakersfield. He said it was pretty lame that the only lights that Sabbath had was when Ozzy brought out a green strobe in a gun for "Iron Man". He said Blue Oyster Cult or Deep Purple didn't bring anything which was the only reason to see them haha.

The Arena does suck. Great for hockey though. Too many big name bands sucked when they played Bakersfield, so we just all liked local shows

Now if I was really into country, they put on great shows for that there.

Some of my friends are really into Tame Impala. They're ok, but kinda like psych lite or something. Luckily these sorta hippiey guys are cool with me putting on some 13th Floor Elevators or whatever instead. Tame Impala have some catchy hooks and good productions going for them, but is best suited as background music. Saw them at a festival gig once, and it felt like I was standing there forever.

I did go to this party once, and the host was playing MBV and Camel after I'd shown him some music earlier. 'Twas cool.

Worst party music though is Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys on repeat. Can't stand that stuff normally and it only gets worse over a 6 hour period in a house party where everyone is punching holes in the walls/flooding the place chasing the chillum with cutty sark (two things I don't care for). Worst ever. Second worse was a party with a bunch of old men that would stop the conversation to talk about the lyrics in the Yes song that was playing (and only wine...ONLY WINE!). Parties need to be somewhere inbetween. Balance!

Just remembering that time I managed to piss off both the guy that makes the Tim / Timmy and Brian from SubDecay in the same thread on HCFX and nearly got banned for insisting that what a pedal sounds like and what it's based on are not necessarily equateable and that opinions are subjective, not objective...

Good times... good times...

Tame Impala are just great to listen to while at work. Interesting enough to be engaged while doing jobs, boring in any other situation. Similar to Mac Demarco and Radiohead. :idk:

It hit me the other day that Radiohead haven't put out anything I've really liked in twelve years.

Twelve. Years.

I really liked In Rainbows, like almost on OK Computer level.

I always tell myself I'm going to try getting into more "newer" music (like last 7-8 years) apart from the few things I already listen to but then end up listening to Black Sabbath or Funkadelic on repeat.
