I love these aluminum necked Kramers....As long as I am sitting down. :) I wonder if these HB's are early Dimarzios, as it's where the DMZ came into their naming system later on, or if they are something else? The thing I've found about mine is that you don't always hear the overtones till you record. I think it's an F major that will get all sorts of freaky harmonics. Enjoy. They both look beautiful.

From my research it seems these early pickups were made in house by Kramer. Both pickup types seem oversized. I'll get around to checking out their guts eventually. That's interesting about the overtones, i think the Raptio sounds so great because it's taking a sample and repeating it so it's easy to actually hear how dense and rich these guitars sound. I'm looking forward to laying down some tracks this weekend with these guitars to hear how they sound on tape and at high spl's :excellent:
It's a good thing I play seated anyways or that added weight would be a real concern. Although I did try them out with a strap and was surprised how well balanced they are, I thought there might be some neck dive.

Nice if there is no neck dive. Mine dives like a champ. Great sitting down. Standing up, it's a surprising amount of effort keeping it in playing position. I notice your's are earlier than mine. I think the necks may have traveled further into the body? Not sure.

Well its pretty easy to tell the neck is heavy and wants to dip but it's not like I expected, I was certain it would divebomb like my thunderbird bass before I moved the strap button but they stayed put. Might be another story after playing for awhile while moving around etc.

The pickups in my 250g sounded awesome. Almost like a lower gain Firebird pickup or something. The guy that I bought it from had said that they weren't original (though they had the original covers...) but I never pulled it apart to get a look at them. The guy that bought it from me recently is a seated finger-style player. He was very stoked with the richness, warmth and sustain that he was pulling out of it.

Nice looking sticks there, UG!
