sweet score Conks...like the look of the bare wood too.

was talking to my band mate last night about our rigs...and we want to run double rigs, one guitar and one bass...then he told me about a cab he has, which is at a friends place...an old JCM800 bass cab which has 2x10+1x15...so, i'm thinking i'll use that cab for my superbass...and the matamp will be my guitar rig...can't wait to actually start gigging and ripping some ear drums!

so we are 2 guitarists (he plays a 7 string), with added noise from weird pedals, theramin and a sign wave generator, both running two amps, we've got three songs which is about an hours worth of music...we are set!

all we need is a band name...and we can't decide on one that we like. The options so far are:

Oztalun
Silent Assembly
Elder Gods
Kroest
Titans of Disorder
Institute (which was already used back in the 90's by the douche from Bush)
Librarian

Think harder although Librarian would get my vote out of that since it's epic.

Scored this 5150 tonight for $100. The pots are scratchy as hell but it has brand new power tubes in it so thats almost worth what I paid for it anyway.

what in the actual fuck.

I'll give you $200 plus shipping for the 5150. Double your profits, man.

I had a really shitty gear night. Nothing was sounding right to me. One cab acting a fool. Then used a spare cab. Sounded boomy and sloppy as fuck. Literally just threw all the switches to off and stopped playing. I need a day to just sit down and go tone hunting. Fuck.

second Librarian from that list, I made a fake band page for an event next week that's kinda a tribute to some rad people. The Wrecked Ohms. It's growing on me and I may need to use it for a project down the road. Names are hard.

That 5150 is a sweet score Conkers.

Broke both my wrists as a kid (separate occasions) and knocked out some teeth doing stupid shit. Wrecked cars and four wheelers and shit and walked away clean from all of that, but sometimes I would trip and fuck myself up big time

Now my wrists randomly hurt sometimes and I'm afraid I'm going to have arthritis. Fuck - we are a bunch of old men in here.

Still not sure on a name, the other dudes seemed to dig the name Toenovis, so we may end up going with that...or Kybar. But we've got one song pretty much finished and I've got a song that I've been working on that I haven't brought to the table yet. Coming together nicely!

I'll probably hit you up about it. This head was used by both guitarists in a old band of mine so I bought it for the sentimental value of it but I know that since I'll never gig with it I'll begin to feel like it is just taking up space so I'll get rid of it. Messed with it last night and the lead gain pot needs replacing since it will spin all the way around. Still works, but I'll replace it anyway and get some knobs for it too.

I feel the same way with my tone sometimes. Sometimes its my ears, and sometimes its my gear. The last practice before our last show I felt like my Matamp was getting all farty in the low end and it was just sounding horrible. I figured the power tubes were needing to be replaced since it has been a while since I've owned it and never replaced the power tubes in it. Swapped them out for a set of spare Sovtek EL34s and realized the ones in it were JJ EL34L instead of regular EL34. Crunk it back up after the swap and it sounded better but soon after one of the tubes began to red plate. Are the bias set different or is it that my spare set had a tube that was going bad in it?
