Love the MPC suitcase. I don't know why getting more into synths is giving me a boner for mackie mixers. I dont even really have space for one, but dub delay tho.

It's quite good. I use it mostly as an 8 channels mixer for home practice.
I think that for recording rough ideas and band practice it's a possible option to a PC/MAC plus audio interface.
When I bought it I would have used it to record some tracks with my band. We wanted to check them before entering in the studio.
Then the band splitted up...

Alright, you guys have given me the appropriate amount of synth GAS. Where should I start that reasonably priced? Been looking at the Micro Korg, but thats about as far as my synth gas goes.

It really depends what you want to do. If you want to do low cost poly stuff, or want a lot of options and don't mind something of a preset machine, go for the microkorg. If you want the more approachable interface and form factor of the microkorg, but analog, the Novation Bass Station seems like a good choice. If you already have a midi keyboard, the Roland Boutique series has poly options (not analog, but better sounding than the microkorg) and the Dave Smith Mopho module is probably one of the best sounding mono synths under $400. If you do mind not having presets or think you might get into modular or other control voltage based things, check out the Arturia Brute range.

hmmm...well im looking for a synth vibe closer to Tobacco's warm synth sound, and also something like Battles chopping "alive" feeling noise. Seems like its down to the micro or bass station, moreso the bass station then anything else.

Those are a lot of fun. I'm always playing that when I go to Guitar Center. They usually have the Sub 37, which is also fun bit the simplicity of the Sub Phatty always has me gravitating towards it.

NICE!
there's something really fun about getting a whole synth instead of a pedal.

I actually just got some pedals after not getting for many years. I think I'm giving up on euro because I just really don't like the cost of getting into even if I love the tactile nature of it. It will take me several years to get something useable. I started a sell off and now I have a case and one module, but with the same money I was able to buy back my MPC 60 MK1, my Tr-606 quicksilver mod, and a Nord Modular G2 expanded. It's cool how tactile it feels but seriously it was a big time sink to do stuff that never made it into any of my bands or projects.

Hey ya live and ya learn! I also made a small fund to travel to Japan next year!
