Nice buy. Those are really cool synths. I sold mine last year and have missed it more than a couple times. I have the RS505 and figured the 09 was a little redundant, but there's something to be said about for the small form factor just allowing you to throw the thing anywhere and be up and running in 2 minutes vs the huge and heavy 505. Be sure to try running external audio through the ensemble section - in that sense, you did also buy a great chorus/vibrato pedal along with the synth.

That was quick.

I know. I'm sure for someone interested in sequencing it's perfect, but it didn't fit my workflow

I was in studio today and got to play an Oberhime Sem two voice... OMG.
I need to get one, all I need is one voice

he's a pic. it's not mine, but the thread would appreciate I'm sure.

This man is a great teacher. Berklee music professor and Roland lover, and in this video he explains why the customizing software for the Aira FX is so great, and how it makes each module a synth unto itself. He also explains all the submodules (indirectly providing a crash course on the basics of modular synthesis), and demonstrates how to make patches inside the modules. This is the best explanation & demo I've seen of it all so far. He just lays it all out so clearly, and makes it so easy to understand (and fall for).

What's a good synth to start off with if i've never owned one before? I own synth plug ins but i'd like an actual synth i can run my pedals through. Under $1000 is only requirement.

I am really enjoying the Sub Phatty and I am a first time synth owner. The "one knob, one function" is very nice and straight forward in learning how things work.

tbh a lot of what makes people prefer certain synths over others is the filter/timbre and it's hard to go wrong with a Moog on that front.

Nope, but they do sound really bitchin' (as do the Odysseys).
