it was a nightmare to get working right.

I'm too stupid to measure the correct distance for the bridge so I stuck it in about 1/3rd out of wack and then made a bunch of bootleg attempts to remedy it which completely butchered the body under the bridge. Getting the intonation/tuning in the right ballpark took like 6 hours. Plus rats nest of Marr wiring. You can see where the trem cavity was filled on it now too...which is weird because that showed up after I was done wetsanding it. But it sounds really really beautiful. Everyone should get a 12 string, it's really hard to make bad sounds on one.

Aged IBM. 2000 AVRI special order from Japan. One of 10 in the color they made with the matching stock :)

My favorite fender color. I'm stoked, I should get it next week :)

I bought a warmoth 12 string and stuck it on a VM Jag I had that had a fucked up neck. This racket is addictive.

I bet this sounds gorgeous. Kicking myself for trading my old candy apple jag off now.

Just finished my godson's Christmas present....

I prefer wood myself, but I must admit, this sucker rips pretty good. It was a real learning curve building this.

Sorry... for those not in the know, it's a Res-o-glass kit. Fiberglass body.

He's into that Jack White kinda thing. He bought this kit a couple of years ago, along with all the parts over the past year. He kept bugging me to "help him build it"... but you know young folks today. 4357 friends on Facebook, but when moving day arrives, not one of those fuckers shows.

It's not like you have to lay up the fiberglass or anything like that, but the body comes in two halves. Then you have the wood reinforcements that are inside, along with the screw blocks. Let's just say that alignment is critical, as is planning your layout beforehand. No slips allowed either. Chip the gelcoat, and you're in for a lot of work!

Originally, he wanted a Les Paul control setup, but since he didn't participate in the build, I took matters into my own hands. Kept it simple, one volume, one tone. Coil cuts for each pup, along with treble bleed is my standard fare. I ended up vetoing the pickgaurd. Although it's transparent, I found it messed with the simplicity of the body. Just a big expanse of snowy white, two black knobs, black locking tuners to offset the black pups and binding. That's it. The rest is in the fingers.

Looks great, Dino. :thumb: Get him a JB Hutto record to go along with it too.
