It shits me off.
I know it feels sometimes like its hard to make a difference, but when people abuse client time and funding like that, it enrages me.
We have a culture of it at work and my boss promoted me to narc on everyone, but then immediately told everyone I had no authority at the very next staff meeting. So how do I police a workplace that doesn't respect me? Can't basically. And why would I be motivated to when I've been undermined by the boss directly?
Fuck that asshat who threatened you though. That's clear cut workplace harassment. You should let your boss know that in condoning it, they're open to liability. That might motivate them to get off their ass.
It's like the only thing that motivates a human services manager is the threat of legal repercussions.
And even then I think they push it to see how much they can get away with.

We've talked to the state licensing people. And they told us the reason our company (which is a nation wide one) gets away with having shitty staff and buildings that should be condemned is because they spend a huge chunk of their budget on the best lawyers available. You know instead of fixing shit and hiring decent people. And that they've rarely been able to do anything because of that (plus mental health in Texas is funded more like an after thought).

Edit: They fired him and now he's blowing up my phone with angry texts.
:picard:

Fuck man, I hope that blows over for you.
I think human services everywhere, whenever it actually receives funding, is an afterthought.
As opposed to thinking preventatively, which may actually curb problems that become social issues and catch costs early before they increase exponentially.
Apparently governments have a problem with that.

Yeah if they just spent the money on fixing the program and hiring decent knowledgeable people they wouldn't have to spend so much on lawyers.
It's nice to know someone else knows the struggle and sorry you have to deal with it too.

Damn, didn't know this happened until now. Terrible, terrible. Not too far away either.

I know there is a member around here that is from (dr. noize I think? only person I have met in person from here). Hope his family and friends are ok. Hope they catch all of these scumbags.

pretty sure 'good' actually just means 'white' doesn't it? In the same way that 'thug' means, you know...

Yeah I can't ever figure out if the people who say 'thug' doesn't have a racial connotation to it are just bullshitting themselves or if they're actually that fucking stupid.

Like, yes, I'm aware of the word's origin. But it's similar to verbalizing that someone gave you Ayds in 2015 and then being offended/shocked that the other person didn't think you were talking about the candy from way back when.

yeah the whole 'but the ACTUAL ORIGINAL meaning of the word is' thing is often disingenuous horseshit from smug arseholes who think they're smarter than the sheeple. The verbal equivalent of standing with your finger a centimetre from someone's face going 'IM NOT TOUCHING YOU IM NOT TOUCHING YOU'.

Meaning isn't set in stone, it's imposed by culture man.

Ugh, this. Living in Texas, I deal with this utter horseshit mentality all the time. Our lovely new law that allows concealed weapons to be carried in public universities makes me feel super awesome as an adjunct professor.
