College was pretty cool haters. I got to spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn that various drugs are pretty cool and now I apply literally 0 percent of my degree to my current job.

Sure, but that's dumb. That's not Marx...but it does explain some of why MARX is a four letter word for many. I think you already 'get it,' but the ideology and the misapplication of it should not be confused for one another.

Plz refer to previous comments regarding the myths surrounding capitalism and the presence of death in WWI for further edification.

My son and I went to a neighboured town by train to pick up a Hotone delay pedal, but we couldn't meet the seller, because he had a small car crash that held him up too long. Today is a local religious holiday, that's why our ineffective trip took more than two and a half hours. :erm:

Luckily the seller offered to send the pedal to me for free, because of the trouble. He's a nice guy as it seemed from the phone call. :)

I mean, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao have some of the worst track records around. And lets not even bother treading down the road of Trotsky. I recognize that Marx himself did not advocate literal genocides, but it seems that the extrapolation of his politics into a statist realm often went there. Buuuut, massive simplifications, meet internet.

I think others were already getting at this and I think you've also hinted at it, but none of those leaders were really marxist, they just used communism as a veil for dictatorship/power. Many people seem to incorrectly interpret what are known to be communist countries as adopting the ideas Marx outlined, which they have not really done so at all. I think this is mostly because philosophy is hard to read, and very few people are introduced to it at all unless they take courses for it college.

Hahahaha fuck college. For reals. And I am employed at a college, so do with that what you will.

yeah colleges suck. I've learned more from the internet than I have from college. although I did get to experience some really great courses and was exposed to some cool stuff. luckily I will be graduating with no debt.

Yes to all. Definitely not intending to call anyone out, but the proportion of people who spend time studying this stuff (in any context) is tiny compared to the number of people with indelible opinions about it.

But...#autodidact

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Marxism, like most political theories, should be used as one of many lenses with which to view specific issues. Everyone should just read the first two thirds of it then skip the rest (and read the parts about women being treated equally).

I'm a much bigger proponent of Stalin's little black book than Mao's little red book, s'all'm sayin'.

also that you fucking literalists are maddening in your (willful?) inability to read sarcasm and silliness. Maddening!
