Gunshots at the club across from where I work (nights) at least once a month. So often it does not even bother me anymore.

popvulture wrote:I'll echo several previous comments about appreciating the support network ILF offers. I've been going through some really shitty times myself, but things are ok. Long story short: I was going to move to Chicago with my girlfriend, but had to go with my gut feeling and say that I didn't feel good about it. Then she went with hers and decided she really needs to go. So we're breaking up. It's much more complicated than that, but that's the Cliffs Notes version.

It's extremely shitty and sad, but I know it's for the best—she's got some big things to figure out and achieve, and it's not like I don't also have a couple of things I need to work on. It feels good on one level to get a sense of relief—the relationship has been very worrisome for me lately. That said, there were also times where I thought I'd finally ended up with something good, something that would lead to getting married and maybe having kids. I know it's probably ridiculous to say, but I don't feel good about being 37 soon and single again.

On top of that, I'm a freelancer and can't really afford to turn down any work, thus I had to accept a job that's completely slammed me during all of this. At least I'm distracted.

Anyway, my point—it feels great to have this forum. I get so much comfort out of just seeing what people have to share. Helps immensely.
I'm sorry man. I've come to terms with that I'm pretty shifty at handling situations like this myself, so I won't offer any advice, just support and I hope stuff gets sorted out

Thanks, man. Like I said, it's ok, but it's definitely one of the hardest things I've gone through in recent memory. It just sucks coming to the realization with someone you love that it's just not going to work, or at least not at the moment. The upside is that she's my best friend and we've been making huge efforts to not let any of this get ugly. Things might be awkward for us for a while, and I'm sure there will be some painful moments, but at least we're committed to staying in each other's lives.

Here's to new beginnings. I know one thing--I'm going to use my new bounty of extra time to make sure I work on new music. I still haven't made something I feel super proud of, so I'm gonna put in the work and chase it down.

Coworker is constantly humming and talking to herself. Also, her shift ended 10 minutes ago and she's just too slow to finish something or too dumb to say "screw it I don't get paid enough to stay here any later."

Amidst my breakup and work stresses, I slipped back pretty hard on smoking and/or chewing nicorette for the past month or so. As usual, it was pretty enjoyable for the first couple of days, then it's back into "oh I feel like shit and remember why I quit this stuff."

Nicotine blows. Way harder to quit than anything I've ever fucked with. Trying to get back off of it today and of course the first day feels like sheeeeeeeeeeit.

I should quit again soon. It's just annoyingly inconvenient to do so and I love it.

Haha I know that feeling—during successful periods of quitting, I've smoked in my dreams as well. So odd.

Yeah I'm with you, but I've lost a bit of the fun—it seems to take much more of a toll on me. Feel like shit / have a hard time getting up in the morning.

I'm getting evicted. Wife is leaving. Kid is going with her. I have seven fucking dollars to my name and my bank account is overdrawn by like $200. I've sold everything of value that I own except my Dominion cab because that shit is sentimental as fuck to me. No amp to play it with but whatever.

Bros, this is the darkest fucking time in my entire life. I don't even know what to do. I miss you all terribly but it's hard coming here when I don't even have an instrument to play. My life is crumbling before my eyes. I might not be back for a while. Love y'all.
