Look man, I appreciate someone that can pull off the hard sell, but, I'm pretty set over here.
Take your angry, door to door, merch shilling techniques elsewhere, sir.
They are surplus to requirement here.

There's always people who find crazy deals, but in general you'd be looking at around $1500. Older ones go up significantly and I think the non-master volume models are a bit more. They're certainly getting harder to find. Pretty spendy, but god damn they do sound good. I'll never sell mine.

Cool. I snagged one for 1350 shipped on reverb. I sold my Soldano and figured now would be the perfect time to snag an amp I've always wanted to try.

There an 80-81 jmp 2204 locally for about 900. Only 50 watts, but if I had the cash I'd go for it. Vertical inputs, which I guess are better?

i sold my '74 for about $2k aussie dollars, which was on the cheaper side, but I liked the guy and it was going to a good home...so you I think you got a good deal as well.

is it lead or bass??

It's a 77. Vertical input 100 watt master volume. Used to belong to Alex Newport from Fudge Tunnel.

nice...that should sound sweet. i'll tell you this much...the superbass i had was 100w...compared to my matamp which is 150w and orange 200w...that superbass was definitely louder...something special about those amps.

Awesome. I hope you love it. You certainly got a decent price. You won't lose money on it if you don't. 6550's or el34's? I like 6550's better and generally go with tong sols in mine. I highly recommend messing around with some fancy pants preamp tubes. I've been lucky to play on a lot of awesome amps and own a few of them. Since I got that thing, it just feels like home when I come back to it. I wouldn't trade it for any of them. It'll eat your dirt pedals for breakfast like nothing else.

Also, all master volume jmp's are vertical input. That's a jcm 800 question. Every jmp is like the best 800 ever.

Sam, it must be those mids cutting through. My 2204 was the same way. On the high input and gain dimed it would keep up with the other guitarist's 5150 easy.

That's right, they didn't start horizontal inputs until the mid 80s. I loved my 2204 other than the lack of clean headroom but 50 more watts will fix that. This one has EL34s in it but I wanna get it switched to 6550's asap... or at least put some 6ca7s in it until I can get it modded. Other than the headshell, the circuit is identical to the jcm 800 right?

More or less, I think they tinkered with supply cap values a little which result in small changes in supply filtering but the base circuit is more or less the same.

As you may remember, I used to have a first year 800 2203 with el34's at the same time as I had my current jmp 2203. It's either an 80 or an 81, whatever was the last year. I like the jmp better, but even with the different power tubes, the sound was still pretty damn close. I could tell a difference in my own amps side by side, but if I saw a band play with a 2203 there's no way I'd bet money on being able to tell if it had 6650's or el34's. Putting sweet preamp tubes in my jmp made a significantly bigger difference in the sound than the difference between the power tubes. I got them both with jj preamp tubes. I now have Raytheon black plates in v1 and the phase inverter and an old mullard in v2. My tech isn't stoked about the pi tube not being balanced, but it sounds way better than a balanced jj.

Swapped preamp tubes in my old JMP mkII. Just messing with V1 made a huge difference. Haven't dealt with V2 and V3, expect some results but nothing as drastic as V1. I need to order more tubes soon for more experimenting.
