I love drums. Especially that kit Truth Hz posted... what are the sizes? 20/13/14? Toms looks close in size. I've been wanting to do a 20/13/14 lately.

1964 Leedy Shelly Manne 22/13/16/14. Basically the same as the Slingerlands of the time. Really resonant, lots of attack and bloom. They can get out of control pretty easily with the ringing tone, but there's an intersection of tuning and muting that allows it to really sound huge and cut through while not sounding overly modern.


1965 Rogers Holiday 22/13/16, 14 Powertone sourced separately. This one's angling to be the go-to kit here. Nice balance of punch and tone. Tunes low and high nicely.


C&C Player Date 2 24/13/16. Love that kick drum. Might sell this one just because how many sets of 13/16 do you need and it's a current production kit. I do love it though. Super warm and thumpy. Doesn't really need muting, I've got it set up with Aquarian Modern Vintage heads which work perfectly with it in that thumpy-but-not-muted context.


Early 80s Gretsch USA 20/10/14. People often write this kit off because it's little. It's a fucking cannon covered in cannons. People are stupid and should use this thing.

Man, the Rogers drums are sweet. I have a full set of swan leg swivo-matic hardware. I'd love to have a Rogers kit to go with it. Those kick drums are freaking insane sounding.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been absolutely loving this kit. They sound great live and recorded. I'm running through different heads now to find what I like best with these particular shells, but so far Emporer and Powerstroke batter have worked great. I'm experimenting with Remo Renaissance and Fiberskyn heads. The Renaissance I'm trying are the Powerstroke and Emporer, too. We'll see what works best...

Those are both amazing! I played drums for 13 years before I picked up a guitar and I love those vintage Rogers kits. And a glitter finish makes anything better. That looks pristine too? Same with that C+C kit. So, so nice.

Finally got my drums set up all proper like last night. Nothing too fancy. Old MIJ shells that I scored at a salvation army years and years ago. 60's Ludwig supraphonic snare, speed king pedal, 20 in zildjian ride my dad bought in the early 60's, and new beat hi hats.

There are some cocktail drum kits for like $300 on eBay. Anyone tried one of those? I don't really play drums, but I prefer live drums for recording. I really only need a snare, bass, Tom, hi hat and crash/ride.

Maybe you have another suggestion. Oh yeah, I have NO room.
