It isn't bad at all. Awesome with synth gear, to be honest. String sounds through the PH-3's UP or DOWN modes are really cool, as well as the STEP mode. I like it a lot more than the PH-2.

Yea. the PH-3 algo is solid, especially for the mode options.
Even more fun on the programmable units (where it actually makes me fairly happy on guitar in the GT-100, and I haven't liked a phaser since my ancient 18v DOD 1/4" power input monster).

Decided to hold off on getting an envelope filter and start my 2017 gear acquisition madness with some overdrive (the latter of which had to be repurchased because JRRshop on Reverb doesn't monitor their inventory and "oversold" the pedal before my December 2016 order):
