Did some things to my Tele. Put on a Bigsby, a cut off Mastery Tele bridge, and an a Dearmond goldfoil because the Teisco goldfoil I had in the bridge died on me. Really digging the Dearmond. It's wonderfully fat. I need to figure out a more attractive plate to mount it to, but this works for now.

took a while, because I was waiting for those knobs to arrive and in the meantime was falling in love with the TAFM Phanta loaned me...
but once I finally started it went super smooth, just a tiny bit longer than changing strings,
because my wonderful secret satan was thoughtful enough to include a vibramate....

Here's the final mockup of a project I'm having built.
This is the first guitar I've ever totally designed, functionally and aesthetically.. aside from the fact that it's a telecaster, of course.

-chambered alder body with flame maple top
-stained midnight blue top, solid sides and back
-5-layer binding on front of body, 1-layer binding on the back
-bound neck
-block inlays
-12" fretboard, medium jumbo frets
-Gotoh 6-saddle bridge
-Dimarzio Area T hum-cancelling single coil neck pickup
-Dimarzio Chopper T single coil-sized blade humbucker bridge pickup
-inverted control plate
-500k volume and tone controls
-push-pull control on tone knob to engage hi-pass filter
-"Deaf Eddie's" 5-way wiring - neck, series, parallel, series out-of-phase, bridge
-compensated brass nut
-Fender American tuners

The rose decal came from an old artwork book. I had it printed on to very thin waterslide paper, and it will be sealed under clear coats.
Headstock decal will say "Rose Telecaster" in the style of "Fender Telecaster"

That's the idea. 5 unique tones via the 5-way switch, and another unique tone for each of the 5 positions when the filter is engaged. Plus more tones via each of those options interacting with volume/tone controls. All accessible with a fairly simple and limited number of controls, too. This is the best and most versatile telecaster I can think to design. I put a LOT of thought into this. I've been toying with ideas for this telecaster for the past 4 or 5 years, really.

The Dimarzio Chopper is easily the most versatile and best-sounding pickup I've ever used, so it's perfect for this tele's bridge position. It's so balanced and articulate for what it is. It sits so well between single coil and humbucker tones: Much of the chord clarity, sterility and articulation of a single coil, but with the highs and quack rounded off a bit and filled in with a bit of humbucker fullness. Noiseless, too.

Tony Maddi of Guitar Repair and Refinishing, Inc. is building the telecaster for me from parts. his website is http://www.guitarrepairandrefinishing.com/
I highly recommend him if you want good and affordable work. Over 25 years of experience. Great guy. Very meticulous about his work, and he has a degree in electrical engineering to boot, so he's capable of any rigging up any sort of modification or wiring scheme you can think of.

Bound the neck, refinished the body, refinished the neck in vintage tint high gloss, refretted the neck, installed a babicz bridge and a brass nut, shielded the internals, routed the body and pickguard for a jaguar switch, and wired the switches to control HP filter, bridge phase inversion, and vol/tone bypass. The pickups are the Billy Corgan signature Dimarzio blade set.

The chambered + flame top tele body came from a custom shop in Denver, CO. They had a client who abandoned a project midway through, so they sold it at a loss. I lowball offered $50 bucks, and they TOOK MY OFFER. Are you KIDDING ME, A custom USA body like that could go for $300+ elsewhere. All it needed was a sanding to take the paint off.

The neck came from a Squier John 5 signature. I have confidence that it will be a good match, with the C shape and 12" radius. It felt like a good neck to me, and those guitars have received glowing reviews. Plus, I scored it for $75.

$150 total for a really good body and neck. Not bad, right? I contacted a few folks directly and got special/employee discounts on the parts, too, so I spent about $400-ish on everything, neck and body included, and I didn't compromise on anything. Every component is basically the best I could think to throw in it. For me, anyway.

The way Tony refinished my Strat neck, it feels so much like a Gibson neck now, and so smooth to play. With the tele's neck refinished in the same way, and with its configuration, it will be a sort of hybrid of tele, jaguar, and Les Paul DNA. I really like designing these "Swiss army knife" guitars that can cover as much sonic ground as possible without being too complicated.

All original 1965 Jag, lovingly beat to shit over the last 52 years. I added a mastery bridge and keep the original in the case. It's so awesome!

any shrinkage at all on the pick-guard?

it's flipping outstanding, can't be the natural relic.

There's a bit of shrinkage (the water was cold ) but honestly not too bad at all. Im digging the hell out of this thing.
