Speaking of back up our furnace has turned itself off again. Good thing I have an excessive supply of sweatshirts and winter jackets.

The local comic shop closed this weekend. Spent many hours in there over the years. Gonna miss it.

nothing else comparable nearby?
wife and i were getting thai food not long ago and we drove past this place that was a LAN center, comic book store and LGS for Magic the Gathering. Played a lot of Magic there. Or at least a few months (I went to a few different LGS in my day). It was closed. I haven't been in years but was sort of bummed. It had a really cool location but it was just kind of dumpy and ramshackle.
I don't know if the owner owned the building or not (7-story-ish) and was going to get it some strong tenants and never did or what.
bummer city.

i'm starting to get really worried, a coworker of mine might have died in a fire last week as no one has heard from him since and he hasn't been into work.

Sounds like someone is drinking your milkshake, DoS.

Also jeez, Walt—I'm so sorry to hear that. I see you're in CA, but I'm guessing this is different than the Ghost Ship fire?
Regardless, that's heartbreaking / really terrifying

It's cool and good that I now have to set my alarm earlier to factor in the time it takes to convince myself to get out of bed.

It's "cold" here this morning, too, as in the 40s. My difficulty of getting out of bed was increased exponentially by the snoozing cat heater next to me.

Totally understand. The wind chill this morning in Wisconsin was fucking 2 degrees and my bed had a husband and cat in it. I am def missing the Las Vegas version of "cold", which was low 40's.popvulture wrote:It's "cold" here this morning, too, as in the 40s. Haha yes, that's a nearly inescapable scenario

The Dwarfcraft crew and brood should adopt some bully dogs. They're great cuddlers and since they weigh sixty plus pounds they're great for keeping you warm.aens_wife wrote:Totally understand. They may or may not have a tendency for kicking you out of bed.

I think I've missed my alarm for a solid two weeks, now.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I would love to, but we have two older dogs who do not like their routines or spots on the couch disrupted. My sister has a big, dumb, and very lovable pit bull that is amazing for cuddles. I also love that they don't have much hair, so don't shed like our current doggos do.odontophobia wrote:The Dwarfcraft crew and brood should adopt some bully dogs.
