So I'm in a real life pickle that I'm unsure what to do about. I was just offered my dream job, but there are catches.
1) It's in Washington, so it would be a big move. It's where my family is, but if anything that is a negative because my wife is very close with her family who all live here in California.
2) I'm in school, so I would have to at least put that on hold a year while I get residency in the new state.

But there are some big pluses.
1) It's something I've been wanting to do for years.
2) We currently live with my In-laws, and new job would pay enough for my family to actually have our own place.

I feel like there is more, but i'm not sure. IDK. Big life decisions are stressful and I'd rather not make this decision in my classic way of just making a pro/con list and just sort of going for it.

Go! If it truly is dream job territory this could be a one time shot at it. My immediate family are all back in CA--and while I finished school--I kinda put myself on hold so my wife could pursue her PhD to attain that dream job. We've lived in TX...left our giant support system there to go to Missouri for a year for an Internship where we knew nobody (and had a 5 week old baby...stay at home dad on my own man) and then moved to GA where she got a Fellowship and now a "big girl job". While there have been some trying times financially and emotionally through these big moves...it was for "the greater good" and I wouldnt do it differently. I am sure a sit down with your wife going over all the positives of what this could do for your family (free of living under someone else's roof) will clear the vision. And you know folks in WA so you're not going in blind. Same time zone/short flight for her family to visit.

doubt it...pregnant things smell of crazed hormonal activity..so that may be a lure..its like if you kill a deer or any animal when its frightened it will not taste as good because before it dies and is at rest its secretes adrenaline amonst other things that disrupt its flavor.
