It would be a blessing in some ways. You could just focus on everything else without that little voice telling you to rub on stuff

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I missed this all earlier and jumped into the convo on the Main Vein thread.neonblack wrote:I honestly don't know what my endgame is right now with dating. I'm exactly the same, totally a relationship guy, never really a hooker-upper. I feel like there have been plenty of times in my life (now included) when I should relax and do more of that sort of thing, but it's tough to let go. Why?
This has driven me crazy for quite a long time.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I too would love to explore the joys of hooking up. I have crazy anxiety and it leads to anxiety in other areas and I just end up repeating this nightmare scenario in my head where nothing works like it's supposed to and we all leave disappointed and then I just say fuck it to the whole thing.
Also lately, probably due to my depression, I find a lot of people really unpleasant or annoying to be around, including on dates. I think I'm just projecting my dissatisfaction with myself into other people though.

The more i read about my personality type the more i realise ive been at its whims my whole life.
Which is depressing.
What isnmore depressing though is realising that im actually completely disfunctional.
And probably a massive asshole.
Hooray me.

What metric are you using for your personality type?Iommic Pope wrote:The more i read about my personality type the more i realise ive been at its whims my whole life.

Myers-Briggs.
Its somethig ive known for a while but not really been motivated to gain a deeper understanding of.
But now that I can no longer stand my rut Ive been compelled to actually educate myself and deal with it.
I dont feel like im living life.

Careful with the self-report ones, especially Myers-Briggs. There is a ton of legit criticism on its usefulness. At best it tells you kind of how you feel about yourself, but its dichotomizing misses out on a ton of nuance. So don't take it too seriously!

What was yours, Pope? Mine was ENFP, although I feel I'd be much more likely to be an I in recent years, post quitting drinking.

Hardcore INFP here. AMA.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Ive been looking for answers lately though (which may be a component of the problem, I know), but i know what to do with the info to get to a point where I can use it for good.
It may be that youre utilising extroversion and drinking to adapt when you are actually introverted?popvulture wrote:What was yours, Pope? Mine was ENFP, although I feel I'd be much more likely to be an I in recent years, post quitting drinking.
Not uncommon.
Quitting drinking isngood though. I was a shitty social and often, private, alcoholic up until my mid 20s. Id flog rhe shit out of past me and reclaim those years for something useful if it were an option.
Thats because I'm INFJ.odontophobia wrote:who is your most fuckable ILF member and why is it Pope?Invisible Man wrote:Hardcore INFP here. AMA.

Oh I'd totally agree with you there. Also, people change... I was a pretty precocious, go-getter type of kid. I've had a lifelong undercurrent of worry and general anxiety though, which I think began to become heavily anesthetized during my party animal 20s. You know—rock band, beer, blow. I'm sure I was obnoxious as all hell. Any illusions of needing to be Mr. Good Times cleared up immediately when I first quit drinking, but I also think some of it had to do with getting older and not being so eager to please.Iommic Pope wrote:It may be that youre utilising extroversion and drinking to adapt when you are actually introverted?popvulture wrote:What was yours, Pope? But then again I'm still constantly worried about what people think of me. Oy.

Test results don't define you, and the harm can be that you live up to those archetypes. But if you're more interested in growing and changing, strengthening those weaknesses and oversights, the labels don't mean much outside of markers or starting blocks to initiate that change.
I dunno how I missed this but, fuck, yes. They do need to stop that.jrfox92 wrote:Netflix needs to stop trying to revive Adam Sandler's career.
