how do you like playing the dashtick vs. a normal guitar comesect2.0? It looks like it would be a ton of fun and could be great for bowing things too

Ibarakishi, The Hurley stick guitar is a brilliant idea, and the man Robert who makes em has come a long way, check out his new work on FB or etsy
...the wood is super durable and allows for nice bend tremlo, and can be as customized as you wish, real fun bowing, I have been using a slide lately,
as far as how a "traditional" guitar and a Dashtick compare, for myself...I got witchy fingers and less strings the better, though when I switch over, having more strings is certainly fun... think at the moment, most strings you can get on a shtick is 4 but it is possible id imagine to have more, just gotta ask the man https://www.facebook.com/daShtickguitars/

comesect2.0 : They look really beautiful, i had never seen them until you posted about it. I really love the aesthetic a lot too. It reminds me very much of the some traditional Thai instruments here in the north. I have been thinking about trying to build a sort of electric cello, or i guess what would function as one, out of old guitar parts lately, with 4 strings maximum myself. I want it to be something that is really minimal and compact, for traveling and easy use. I will have to send a message to Robert and see what his limitations and see if he is open to do anything like that with his work. Having a normal one like you have would be really fun to play slide with too like you were saying. Thank you so much for the information again :] Also, do you ever record music with yours or do you just play live/at home? I would be interested to hear your opinion on the pickups and how they sound live vs. in a recording context too with your instrument

Roberts a good guy and willing to work with any ideas you throw his way,
cant tell you much on recording, though he used a flatpup pickup on the shtick in my post,
http://www.original-flatpup.com/
and on the fret less one I have it is piezo.
flatpup is much tighter sounding, while the piezo is broad, so if your going to use pedals definitely a flatpup.
Hope you end up creating a great instrument.

I wanted to get one of those for my grandad's old resonator but by the time I had any money, I'd forgot what they were called. Thanks for reminding me!

Yeah man, the Lyre is doing the surf/psych riff thing for me in gated mode. When I'm on my own I get stuck into the other mode more but in the band, it's gated that seems to work the best. It's managed to kick a far more expensive silicon fuzzrite clone off of my board!

thanks for the info on the pickups comesect2.0 , i will look into those more as well! I had never seen those pickups, so i will listen and read through about them. Like you said, i will be using it with pedals at some point, so your suggestion is really helpful

So I try to be a minimalist with my rig but I like a little variation so I can't live without a couple pedals in the line. I built this a while back and have since only changed out my ehx muff t/w with the eqd erupter and I love the change...

I took and old suitcase and cut a piece of plywood to fit, boosted it with legs, covered it in velcro, drilled in a few jacks, and wired them for jumpers in and out. Let me know what you guys think
boss tu3 ---> dunlop original cry ---> eqd erupter (in sweet purple)---> eqd ghost echo (glow in the dark)

power supply is below

and it closes up nicely for travel!!!

thanks for looking!

Thanks, still needs some work but it makes travel really easy. I'm working on a way to get the power out without having to open it but I haven't found a good solution yet...

Where'd you get that purple Erupter?
Did you go to their opening in Akron?

No, I guess they only have the purple Erupter and the glow Ghost at Chicago Music Exchange, dunno if they sell the purple online though. I was there for their demo by accident and got a discount on top of it. It was quite the surprise and they were cool folks.
