I really liked the sounds you gout out of the VCOfan UG. I though it would be a ton more noise-y (not my thing please don't kill me) but it actually put out some really nice sounds. Definitely something I actually would like to look at though.

Three options from GFS for the middle pick-up on my custom Jazzmaster. All are middle pickups. The cream “OEM” Strat pick up is in a set of 3.

I’m keen to try that Strat-sized gold foil! The original idea was to put a lipstick in the middle. I’m going to try both and see which I prefer more.
Not sure that I’ll use the “OEM cream” Strat set, but grabbed it just in case.

Tell me how that goes.
I've been thinking hard about upgrading my VMJM to those Novak Wide Range humbuckers.

I thought they might be noisier too. They sound really great, very unique. good for thunderous thwacks when you hit em with pulses too. has me reconsidering picking up a couple of his newer cdmotor vco. the two fan versions seem to sound/respond identically to one another but the newer one has a trim pot for adjusting output gain. When I first powered this newer one up there was an actually pleasant but kinda detached and mechanical noise that had me worried the unit was damaged. then I saw the hole on the front and sure enough the gain was dimed, cutting it back took care of the noise. its a good kinda noise really, adds a little extra texture to their otherwise smooooth sounds. one thing is their output volume is kinda low to lower depending on frequency, some of his other modules I have are lower output compared to other brands too so I wasn't surprised, but its a thing.

I have no idea what this thing is, so question out of ignorance: is it actually looping on that magnetic tape, or is that window and the tape just for show?

No it's an actual tape delay. The tape is being fed. If you open up a lot of tape machines they're just loose like that and not on spools but the tape is essentially being looped like a reel to reel would be. It uses the same tape as a Space Echo.

The demo they posted sounded horrible to me. It was so hissy and screechy that I just wanted to smash that thing with a hammer. I wonder if there's a pleasant demo and I missed it.
