Adding a (US) (EU) (UK) whatevz in the thread title, as some already do, would be sufficient.

Yeah, if youre outside the US, its easier to work out a fair price for the item, convert it to $US, and then specify buyer pays shipping, or that shipping will be additonal and negotiated into the price.
I understand that youve got those fees to deal with, but cant you get stuff sent as a gift or with a fudged value to deter taxes etc? There are exemptions, right? Most ILFers understand that and dont run the BST like an ebay store. None of us want to pay taxes.

Also, jwar, would you prefer to have "ilove90sdadmetal.com" for a domain to hang out on? :animal:

Nope, they fucking tax gifts too. Fudged value might work, but then that's at the risk of the seller going "fuck you, you dishonest dweeb" so, there's that.

As someone who has sold not-infrequently to EU and other international folks, I don't think anyone has had to pay exorbitant fees out of the blue (or if they have I've reimbursed them for it if they want).

But thanks, all. This makes me a bit less reluctant to buy stuff from Murica thru here.

It still doesn't work out that expensive. Second hand us prices are usually substantially lower than here to begin with, so the shipping and 25% import duty make it pretty much the same as buying locally, if the usd isn't too strong. Then there is the fact that locally I can get tubescreamers and muffs and stuff 2nd hand, but oscillating fuzzes? Nope. So I'm either buying 2nd hand from and ILF bro or paying crazy money to fuzzmonster or tgt11. Not that they rip people off, but they have to pay import duty, currency fees, shipping, and presumably sky high rent for their physical shops. I buy from those guys every now and then when I can to support them, but for me nothing beats the bst. Canadian shipping has gone up shit loads, but you can still get decent cheap usps shipping.

Sorry to harp - just explaining the maths of my argument. I get that the equation will look different for different folks

Here's an example. Let's take the Fuzz War fs on the first bst page. A new Fuzz War in the us is 165$, over here it's 199$ (at Fuzzmonster). The Fuzz War in the bst is going for 135$ and then let's add 30$ shipping, so the amount of money I send to the seller is now 165$. Add 25% to that, and we're at 206$, then add the fee by the postal service and we're at something like 234$ - that's 99$ more than the the original price, and 17% more than a flippin new one costs here. I do calcs like this all day everyday, so I'm very well aware that the prices in the US are lower than over here, yet do you see why, most of the time, international ads are irrelevant to me?
And really, you can get lucky over here as well. I saw a 3-knob Soundwave Breakdown go for 99$ last month and right now there's an Iron Fist going for 71$, small Devis for 55$ and so on.
