Our pedals can definitely receive both preset changes and Midi sync. They can receive preset data, MIDI CCs, MIDI Beat Clock, SysEx and more all from a single connection. I do this all the time with my setups at home and in the office.
I'd be happy to help you out over the phone, if you'd like to call during tomorrow during business hours. I'm confident we can help you out. Our direct office line is listed at the bottom of this page: https://www.meris.us/support/
first, you guys really are the best. your pedals are so very inspiring and unique - so bravo.
basically what I meant, and probably didn't explain clearly enough, is that I have a midi 'brain' if you will, sending tempos out to a variety of pedals (TC triple, sl20, etc) and I'd love to be able to send tempo AND have a preset box for the ottobit/other meris pedals. but if the preset box uses the 'midi in' 1/4 on the otto, how do I also send it tempo? will the preset box have an additional midi input so that it can go midi brain > preset box > otto and sent tempo thru?

Fed ex ground so slow you might as well send your package through a modulated delay network. Where is the knob to adjust the late modulation speed of my pedal transit?
Thanks for the feedback. We want to use the shipping method that works best for our customers.
FedEx Ground has been amazing for customers near us in Southern California. Most of them are getting their Polymoons in 24 hours or less from the time the pedals leave our door.

Thanks for the kind words!
I'm 100% confident that we can find a setup that works for you. The MIDI implementation on all of our pedals is extremely comprehensive. You can set the tempo several ways including Tap messages via CC and MIDI Beat Clock.
Let's start here: what are you using for a midi 'brain'?
Merc 7 kicked my Space off my board, something I didn't think would ever happen. Suddenly it felt kind of sterile and flat. I'm slightly astounded at how good the Merc 7 is

Wow, thanks for kind words. Honored that the Mercury7 earned a spot on your board.
Can someone explain how to set up the midi with a DMC 3XL? Do I need a TRS cable? Or will a regular patch cable work? I see it says a "mono" cable, but I don't really understand cable language I guess. LOL.
I plugged my H9 into it last night and it set itself up instantly. At least it did for the presets. Fuck I wish Disaster Area made the instructions they included bigger. I can't read that shit even with my glasses on.

When you enter their setup mode at startup, you'll have to select the device profile that was created for the Meris pedals. There is one for the Ottobit Jr. and one for the Mercury7.
I always use a short TRS cable (Amazon has tons of options), but I just tried it with a standard guitar cable and it seemed to work fine. I'm in the habit of using TRS because we do both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT on the same jack. MIDI IN to the Meris Pedal on the tip, and MIDI OUT of our pedal on the ring.
Also make sure our MIDI channel matches the one of your DMC3xl. We default to MIDI Channel 1, but you can change it on our device in Global Configuration Mode
Holy hell, just dipping my toes but the polymoon is insane. It's kind of funny to call it a delay It is but almost incidentally. It's an ambiance-generating modulation machine with a delay network in it. It functions like a delay at one end of its spectrum of possibilities but then blasts off from there way into the other end of its spectrum, way into uhm... space... swirly space, deep washes and crazy reverb-scapes and outter space crazy time hyper-modulation stuff.
Many moons... it's a deep pedal
