although i didn't get the preamp with it.... is there a reason i would want to? I figured i could just hook it up to my Electronaut M67 preamp and run it through some tubes for color that way too.

I mean, it's a $250 piece of scrap metal. I think it's warranted.
It's a hand-hammered piece of metal. It took a lot more work to make that than it did to make a $300 boutique fuzz pedal clone. This guy make neato stuff. I would like to get some of his gamelan strips or bar thingies.

This post is not getting the attention it deserves.

Also have a bag of Chinese contact mics. Shit, I've gotta find them and get some heatshrink.

I am getting closer to my electro-gamelan synth controlled by acoustic drums. Laying out my tabletop control stuff today.

Not to get all "you just went full 'what's a VCA ' again" but You need a piezo pre-amp or it's going to sound like shit. It's an impedance thing.

You literally just bought the least essential element.

I dig the clip too. Did think it was a bit pricey but also assumed it was a modified cowbell not a completely hand beaten construct. Along with Nora's incoming electrolobotomy piece you guys are making me wanna dig out my contact mics as well. :yay: had been planning on using them with the microgranny anyways, hopefully this will give me the push to get on with it!

Have a few things incoming...

The Have You Ever Been Fucked by a Rainbow is a pedal Brian made me years ago and it's finally coming home! :)

Advise.. don't drop those pickups.. they are made to be stuck on a piano and not moved around.. if you do drop it and it stops working pop it apart and put the little stick back in place and it will work fine again :idk:

Yeah someone needs to dissuade me a little from that one
Maybe I shouldn't elaborate too much so I can sell mine off first. This just isn't for me and does not live up to my expectations of how I wanted to use it. Had to try it since I loved the idea it offered in demos.

Spent more time with it tonight, here are some random musings:
- Lots of dead areas on the field with certain settings of the input gain and output volume
- Pretty much need 4 fingers on it so you can find and connect two of the hot spots to make the fun noise
- Probably best served as an effect added in post production, not as a live instrument, too inconsistent in making sounds
- Inconsistent with volume of the sounds it creates, some are very quiet and then there will be a spike in volume
- Alters guitar sound in a bad way just passing signal without touching field, as if the tone knob on the guitar turned half down
- Without touching the field, cranking the knobs creates an unpleasant high frequency noise
- Both left and right channels knobs will effect one channel to some degree, at zero it will cut everything on the channel passing sound
- Looks nice, especially the LED under the field
- I don't have anything that generates CV to try that

Okay.. went to go see what Nora got from electro lobotomy as was said but ended up getting a eye sore of salt and cowbells complaints....soo, Davids(e.l.) got a titillating touch pad synth up on etsy at the moment
