Nope. You can be placed on a waiting list for Toneczar and actually Ed has recently decreased his wait times. At any given time, I can also find Toneczar for sale.

I can't find any Sonic Crayon ever. So, I lost interest. His stuff is cool, no doubt, but I'll never buy one because well, I can't.

Again, not knocking his stuff, just don't see why we talk about it when probably hardly anyone here will ever experience it.

I'll just exit stage left. You guys continue doing you.

Wouldn't it be cool, and I'm just spitballing here, if he released some schematics? I mean if he doesn't want to build anything that's fine, but maybe someone else will.

I remember seeing these pedals a few years ago and getting interested, looking for sales but then they just seemed to drop off the map.

I think the power is more in his software and code which makes the situation a bit different for the DIY community (licences, possible proprietary stuff).

But, looking at that aolixi or whatever (spin, Arduino, etc), someone could probably have fun making inspired by effects.

He also used to be active in the diy forum and shared his builds and some troubleshooting.

I think cloudscapes excelled at interface and pedal design that worked with what he was trying to do code-wise (very similar to what IM and SLM were getting into on their axoloti race to the pedal board thread).

The pedals seemed very well thought out for digital designs of the time without getting caught up in a kind of universal chassis (like spin-based pedals can). Good art helped too.

I'm glad you threw this in at the end there because I was thinking "you're forgetting his pedals just look bitchin'".

Heck yeah.

Hollow Earth is such a neat looking pedal. LCD numbers are ace.

I'm too tired to read all the posts so if it's been said already: fuck it.

Seems like Sonic Crayon was more a guy who is a musician and technically inclined guy - I forgot what he does for a living - that likes designing and building stuff but SC isn't his main occupation or business. Seems like when he wanted to build extras for sale to others, he would. Or he'd make them for himself.

He doesn't owe anyone anything. If he was a business and was saying he is working on X and it will be out soon I'd get people's frustrations about that.

I just always loved seeing his builds/posts cause they are amazing from so many standpoints: his from-the-ground-up approach - circuit design/PCB layout. The features and abilities of his circuits - his own take on certain effects. And aesthetically they are so sick.

Good points, Faldoe.

So, to recap:

Sonic Crayon was never really a commerical venture = fuck you, jwar, you capitalist swine!

I typed this up like 5 times and deleted it because I felt like a scab. I make clones. Fuck it. I do. I love to make pedals, and at this point I don't make anything original, but I can do some work with a soldering iron. I love it when people share. The dude from VFE was quite happy to share his schematics.

I just got really burned out by a lot of stuff. I tend to get anxiety from stuff that's complicated, even if it's not complicated for other people. And that tends to greatly diminish my motivation to make things.

Also as a creative person I tend to bury myself with way too many creative projects I can handle, and that burns me out as well. Whether it's music, painting, drawing, pedals, modular, other stuff. My real(tm) job is also creative and often extremely demanding, so I often have to put side-creative on hold for like a year. When motivation/inspiration *does* come however, I also can't force it to be just pedals, if that makes sense. Like right now I'm on a 2 month vacation which is really cool. I told myself maybe I'd continue working on that dream bitrman killer I've been thinking about, or make a tiny batch of version 2 of the mechanical sun I completed early this year. But when the vacation actually started, I found myself more motivated to do some synth modules. Because creative motivation/drive is difficult at this specific point of my life, I have to embrace what comes to me. Rather than force it into "I gotta make pedals for people now". Maybe some of you will relate. It stresses me out, and stress is a killer.

The usual caveat applies, I haven't abandoned sonic crayon. It's on an extended haitus, as it more-or-less has been for a few years. I have ideas, but they need to wait until I find the drive to actually execute them, since it's so much work, it's not something I can do half-assedly.

I really enjoy seeing/hearing what people do with my pedals. That's a huge drive! But I can understand that many have given up on waiting for "batches". I don't know what to say to that except that I probably would have as well in that position. It is what it is. Some people just suck at applying their creative outlet into a business, even if they want to. Hi. I am one of those people.

What can I say, either wait for batches, or don't wait (i wont take it personally). There are lot's more amazing glitch effects that have started to flood the market in the last couple years wouldn't you say? The new red panda looks nuts!
