I'm trying to record at least one thing every three days for a little while, just because I know I'm in a slump and I want to stay at least a bit active. Here's yesterday's turnout: https://soundcloud.com/barewireson/narcis/s-rFcAW
Was listening to some of your stuff the other day, particularly liked the track An Ocean Of Windows. This new one is cool too.
sidebar: my last name is Ben Attaia, called myself Ben Narcis for quite some time, before the idiot thing.
just having fun with the Tonnetz Sequent (quantizer that follows a formula I SORT OF KINDA TINY BUT UNDERSTAND) and other modular loots, more just jamming out for fun than for bits for songs -
haha, will have a full album to share hopefully at the end of this next month maybe if all goes smoothly. Just finished mixing everything and mastering is in the last moments now. Really really really excited to share it soon Already have a few things that i am planning/organising to do next as well for after this release. This coming year i really want to increase the amount of work i do with people musically and try to push myself even further
Olin wrote:Thanks actual, surprised to hear you like some of it, nice to hear. Edit: what was your reason for using narcis?
Thanks again ibarakishi, really means a lot that you like things, even if they're just 3am keyboard noodlings. Post your stuff!
You're welcome! My taste is probably a bit broader than I sometimes express. I've been through a lot of "phases", funk and whatnot is just the current kick.
Mostly a nod to the story of Narcissus and the Metamorphosis of Narcissus, but Ben is the is arab equivalent of -son or -sen, so go figure Where'd you get it from?
ps. I like most of it, I'm just rarely in a headspace where slowcore and the likes fit.

The amount of things the OP-1 can do kind of intimidates me I think. These sound really full and well done and it's strange to me that it all comes from one tiny source.
They coo' though, chill and boring isn't boring.

I appreciate it dude. On one of them I think I added a rain sample in the background and the 'hey listen' on the other one. It's an amazing instrument.
I also really like the remain album on your bandcamp btw

this is from last fall/winter, music i recorded with a friend in my living room with the aim of making a no-dialog coming-of-age-film about a teenager in ontario. i've been working on it here and there and now it's time to put it to rest so i can move on. we'll leave the film unrealized.
i'll post to youtube and update this post when i am home from work.
