Haha! Yes I have lots of the crying while dad does something memories.. He hit a deer on the road (We lived in the woods) and it was all jacked up so he put it in the back of the truck and brought it home and shot it on the front lawn. We ate it. #deliverance
The sticky traps are the worst for sure. I would much rather have a big iron bar crush me to death than be super glued to a table till I died of whatever possible predicament comes along and I am a helpless passenger to the spectacle of my own horrific death.. Just saying
Mice just stick around. It's the worst in cars because they chew up the wiring and then you crash and die when the ABS comes on or whatever on the freeway. I had a bunch visiting my Jeep at night, so I got rid of everything in there they could possibly chew that wasn't behind paneling, and set up 4 traps, only one was empty the next day and I haven't had any mice since.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I have GERD, it's not really triggered by types of food so much as eating habits. Biggest ones are not reclining or laying down 1-2 hours after eating, not eating 1-2 hours before bed, not eating a lot really fast, not waiting a long time between eating. Typically you have to get it under control with some type of over the counter medicine like Omeprozole (or stronger script versions) for a week or two, then if you stay good on avoiding the things that trigger it, you stay pretty good. The problem is once it starts going, it sort of builds on itself and gets worse and worse. I found out I had it from having to go to the emergency room 10 years ago, with what felt like a heart attack. Just super intense, blinding, jaw clenching pain that wouldn't stop. I don't even get traditional "heartburn" typically, I get sour/bloated stomach and actual reflux (vurp/puke while sleeping). The worst times, I had problems with aspirating in my sleep and waking up suddenly choking and coughing, it's pretty gnarly.BitchPudding wrote:Update: father has something called GERD. All my symptoms bring up the definition of GERD when typed in. Bright side is im still young so its easily treatable.
Dumping coffee amoung other things for tea to start. That shit with cream was mad soothing. Was able to sleep through the night without any sort of heartburn. Theres a little happening now that im awake, so im just gonna have more tea.
I'm good if I stick to the "rules", for the most part now, regardless of what I actually eat. Occasionally I take a pill proactively, the stuff that helps with it doesn't work like tums or anything, it doesn't do much to relieve symptoms short term, just reduces stomach acid production slowly, but it helps to take it ahead of time if I know I'm going to eat late or have a big meal.

It would be easier for me to count the dad memories that didn't trigger some sort of fight/flight/freeze response.
Unfortunately, yes. I agree, glue traps are very much not humane. It's like they were invented by someone who was sad they didn't get to kill the small animal themselves.Chankgeez wrote:Glue traps definitely aren't more humane. I definitely got slightly better when I lost a lot of weight, which I have since gained most of back, but I feel like once you pop the cork on this kind of problem you just have to stay on top of it forever. Which sucks, because eating while laying down suits my personality perfectly.Aghartha wrote: Being in this club sucks.

Dad is not that proactive. He usually just leaves a spring trap in front of a crack by the garage door. Works without fail.
The trap has disappeared a few times. We have always found it. I suspect it's one of the upset cats.

Yeah my dad and uncle both have GERD.. I think you're right though about staying upright, eating well before bed, not eating a huge pile at once.. all valid points. Yeah it blows. I'm not a happy camper.Corey Y wrote:I definitely got slightly better when I lost a lot of weight, which I have since gained most of back, but I feel like once you pop the cork on this kind of problem you just have to stay on top of it forever. Vermin bastards are unrelenting. Unfortunately it's an intersection of two worlds that can never coexist. We want to have our stuff unmolested in the garage, or kitchen, and they want to run around and poop and piss all over everything in sight and spread Hanta virus ..$harkToootth wrote:Not S,H,R,A, and MI but still live with Dad...Dad is still at war with rodents. Has your dad called a meeting of the neighborhood cats and explained to them if they'd just do their job, maybe the traps'd be unnecessary?

Glue traps often result in gruesome rodent on rodent horrors including cannibalism. I recall finding mummified, partially nibbled remains of multiple voles in a crawlspace trap laid near a French drain. We have a small dog and exterminator on the case, so, thankfully, other than a few who have died and rotted in ducts, the mice that previously occupied our current rental tend to conduct their activities outside of our living space.Corey Y wrote:My mom eventually made him switch to glue traps, which were new and supposedly "more humane". The first time we found a tiny severed mouse leg on one. The second time the mouse was still alive, my dad ripped it off, tearing off the mouse's feet, then dropped it on the porch and stomped it.
