Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Hey Fam, I am doing a bit of a purge. Some Euro but other stuff too like a Metasonix Wretch Machine, Ciat Lonbarde, etc. The amount of Euro being sold will increase today, I will be adding a powered 6u Goikes case (so sweet).
I was foolish for selling all of my Buchla off at the beginning of the year. I am going to put a small 200e together so therefore, I am selling a good amount of stuff. So far, I have 3 Buchla modules, looking like I will snag my 4th today - my plan is 10-12 modules.
I will keep 9u of Euro to use with my TTSH and Knas Polygamist. I am keeping my Synton Fenix 2 as well. The 9u of Euro gets to be cooler/digital pimped our stuff to round out the Semi-Modulars they can cross-patch with.

Traded my Belgrad for a Three Sisters. Pathway to double Mannequins is underway

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
So how many of you have played out with your modular? I have my first two shows (as a synth-y thing) coming up and I'd love to hear some tips from those of you that have played live.
I've got a patch I'm constructing to perform but other than that I'm just sort of crossing my fingers that things will sound close enough at the venue vs at home.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Not an absolute expert but I have played out at least 6 times with a modular, once was an amazing show with visuals in an amphitheater on campus at UF. I have also played art spaces and bars.
My strategy has been thinking about how long of a set I have and from there creating a few musical themes that can weave in and out together. I definitely don’t work towards a song per se but movements that invite the listener to pay attention as the 3 or 4 main themes weave in and out.
One thing that I have always done is make sure that there is a beat underneath the modular so listeners have something to anchor to while I explore & move between the themes.
I have had sets go way better than I thought they would and I have had a trainwreck once so there is definitely an element of chance when playing out with modulars. Have fun and don’t sweat it.

Thanks man, all good stuff to hear. Trying not to sweat things too hard. A little bit of bad timing on my part as my main sequencer (Rene) is at MN for service but I think I've got something nice whipped up regardless. Glad I grabbed a Linix recently to give me more mixing capability.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
i'm getting more and more comfy with my setup. trying to spend a bit each day just focusing on a module or two, feel out parts i hadna explored yet.
pretty much just the FLXS and BIA and Manis, no effects, just those two for noise sourcerers.

If it is I’ll buy it from you. I like being frustrated (Morphagene doesn’t make any god damn sense some times)

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
It’s... quirky. I really only use it for unsynced loops and Frippertronics style stuff, though it is capable of quite a bit more.
