After this's all over, I hope the U.S. gov't bills Trump for the damage he's done to our reputation

Very interesting NY Times article about how various sects of Christianity are divided among the immigration crisis:

The Trump supporter came back with the passage in the Gospel of Mark about rendering unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and added for good measure: “Immigration laws are good and Godly! We elected our leaders and God allowed it.”

Out of all the arguments that support current immigration laws, this might just be the dumbest one I've seen.
Tell that guy that God allowed Obama to be president and he'd probably threaten to lynch you.

Trump, apparently, expressed interest in invading Venezuela:

When I was younger I was firmly of the opinion that religion is bad, look at all the dreadful things it has been responsible for.Chankgeez wrote:Yeah, this's an interestly related article:

Now I feel that it's not religion that's the problem, it's people.
The same goes for government, when it's done right it benefits everyone, but people are in charge of it so it always has the potential for those people to behave very badly.

Did I sleep through the civil war? Again.

Every institution - government religious, etc regardless of political leaning - all have the same core thing in common and that’s that said institutions are comprised of people. We are flawed. It amazes me how many people don’t get that, especially in the political sphere.Paul_C wrote:When I was younger I was firmly of the opinion that religion is bad, look at all the dreadful things it has been responsible for.Chankgeez wrote:Yeah, this's an interestly related article:

Or say that Obama was sent by God to test the resolve of America and they passed the test by electing Trump.jrfox92 wrote:The Trump supporter came back with the passage in the Gospel of Mark about rendering unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and added for good measure: “Immigration laws are good and Godly! Remember, everything that is bad is also part of the plan or something.
