even with $60 modules i sell, i pack the BUTTS out of them. i would be livid if something that expensive didn't arrive in wonderful condition.

i'm sorry meng.
Do you even have a rabbit, though? That's the game changer in this story (to me).

urf. but i hateeeeee green LEDs.

i love pink because they're usually a bit more mellow. and. you know. PINK.

keep meaning to swap all the LEDs out so they match. at least on easy to change up sliders.

Well, the Teletype works well and I'm probably going to buy a cheap small mechanical keyboard for it so all in all it's kind of ok.
I'm just a bit annoyed because of all these extra things that could have been handled in a better way but the module is fine.

And damn, that thing is fun. Mostly to test the keyboard (which has a non-functional numlock key, btw) and only using 3 lines of one script (and one trigger in, one trigger out and one CV out) I have a random melody generator that uses the knob as a max range for the CV. It's basic as hell but the process is super fluid and efficient for someone like me.

I need to find some time to re-arrange the whole case and finally plug in the Txi and Txo Teletype expanders I bought 6 months ago ;).

that sounds awesome!

i mean. it's GREAT that the meats of the device is fine. but. that's not okay. like, i've sent a free mult or something if i changed the knobs and don't have the og ones or something. but you ALWAYS tell someone what is different/damaged about something you sell.

I AM TRYING NOT TO LOOK INTO MONOME STUFF TOO DEEPLY. DON'T WANT TO START DOWN THAT ROAD.

Finishing up a video RE: Norns.

Made a sequence with my modular, then sampled it with MLR, and went nuts. It covers most of the basics of the application, too.

Will post when done! :thumb:

I've been admiring that stuff for 10+ years and still have no idea how any of it works.

I'm convinced it's a huge hassle but just looks extra beautiful :idk:

Their stuff isn't too obtuse. Teletype is a little too programmy for me (feels too much like work) but the rest is fairly easy to pick up and play. Grid and Ansible is a great combo for sequencing. Arc and Ansible seems like a fun option for a controller, LFOs, or euclidean stuff. The kicker is that you can use their controllers directly in a computer program or with Max for Live scripts which are already made, so you get the benefit of the programs minus the headache of programming. I know a lot of people pine over the IC stuff with Teletype to control everything on another level, and that's valid, but it's not the only way to use it.

THIS IS 100% TRUTH

It is the best hands on sequencing and control in Euro. Then you get all of the bonus functionality with Max and M4L.

Tbh I'm still pretty ignorant of the Max side of things for those devices, but then again I don't use Max as much as I should period - with or without the controllers.

Yeah, Monome stuff is what I'd call minimal, refined and deliberate. The development philosophy is basically to remove anything that is not necessary and to make tools/instruments that give more freedom to the user.

The original Grid paved the way for all kinds of hardware sold by other companies but it's still unique. And as MuseFTW mentioned, it's usable either with the already developed apps that communicate with it (like the mlr sampler) or with anything custom users can develop. I've never liked using computers for music so even though I was interested when the first ones got released I never bought one.

Teletype is something else, though. It's a minimal programming environment with very strong constraints, and these constraints are mostly deliberate. Which is a good thing for something meant as a creative tool. The experience so far for me is very different from work (where coding is done in C++ in Visual Studio for Unreal Engine games). It's more immediate, playful, and obviously more limited. But not necessarily in a bad way. And there's always the possibility of expanding the firmware by creating new operators/etc. but that's for really advanced users.

Apparently a number of non-programmers really enjoy Teletype and I'm not surprised. It does require planning and time though but you can probably just use/modify some existing scenes and still get a lot out of it.

their stuff doessssss sound awesome as butts. and so PRETTY. but. yesh. must AVOID.

i mean, i don't know if it really needs a demo? it just does exactly what it should do. records the movement of knobs, has a reset for sync'ing, can record a CV into 01, during a loop the knob either changes the offset or the timing of the recorded CV. but.... here?

drums are Deluge, one Three Sisters is toning a melody from the FLXS into another Three Sisters, Flame C-3 is modulating those twos.

oh jia. also, i now have two 3 Sisters. WOOT.

Behnz listening to this. Three sisters INTO three other sisters??? Calling the police. Sounds fucking nice.

Finished my vid, too. Here's my first Norns walkthrough, proper:

Voices are Manis and BIA from Noise Eng. going through Tallin, Morpheus, Quad VCA, Instant Lofi Junky, and Magneto before entering Norns for da glitchy live sampling.

The ease of this is kinda blowing my mind. Once they expand it from 4 lanes of sampling to 7 lanes, it's going to become super beefy.
