Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
oooooo VERY cool Skully! i like the progression a lot. MEOW.
tried a more mellow, somewhat generative thing. Just Friends controlling the vca's opening for Mangrove and Three Sisters for the underlying crackly noise, Mimetic DigDig sending the melody into Rings -

I have not heard enough modular stuff like this, it’s refreshing and exactly what I am getting into it for.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I finally had time to re-organize my case with the Teletype and the Txi/Txo expanders I bought some time ago. The Teletype really makes me want to somehow have less modules. The interface is really intuitive for me and there are so many possibilities that some other modules kind of feel redundant...
Anyway, there's even less chances than before of me getting beyond that 7U case now.
Crappy low light-ish iphone photo, I need to take one with the Fuji instead

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Well, mostly sequencing and some modulation sources.
For example, I have a Pico Sequencer, which is nice and cute and all, but I can replicate what it does easily with a better interface now. Also, I haven't played much with my Txo expander but it's basically 4 more gates outputs and 4 more CV outputs, and these ones can be envelopes, LFOs, even audio rate oscillators (though with some aliasing).
Some aspects of Pamela's workout can be achieved efficiently with TT, but they're actually good partners too (Pamela's workout sending triggers to Teletype) and the big nice start/stop button is on Pamela. Tough assigning a script to start/stop the metro script on TT is super easy and that can be controlled with one key too. Or just typing "M.ACT 0" or "M.ACT 1" in live mode.
I need to spend more time with the whole system to be sure of what makes sense and what doesn't, though... And I don't have that much music time these days.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
verrrry cool.
i feel you. i was so seduced by the yummy awesomeness of the Deluge i thought about ditching the FLXS. that would have been STUPID.
also, i hate the W/. it's awesome, crazy stuff for being so tiny, but the interface is about exactly the opposite how i enjoy them to be laid out.
gonna list later today, if anyone wants a BroGrrLieBro discount hit me up.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I procured this Dinky's. In my first hour using the Dinky's I had many revelations including a cartoon revelation, a noise revelation, a "toot," two vegetable revelations, etc. It sounds good and, as I am familiar with the Akemie's Taiko, the concepts were as simple to grasp as a baby's crayon! It sounds much like cartoons under control voltage, it reminds me of a Machinedrum voice for some reason. I have pushed the Machinedrum into cartoon territory many times, I have pushed it into noise and "toot." Perhaps this is why I am so reminded. The elasticity of the Dinky's impresses anyone immediately. It can go between dark and bright tones with ease. It can jump up and slap hard. In short, the Dinky's seems to rock face and melt face. It replaced a Microbe Equation Composer in my rack. I will probably re-install the Equation Composer in a different space soon as I love the Equation Composer because it has bad-ass byte-beat entropy vibration + more.mr. sound boy king wrote:Amount of $ for the Dinky's?worra wrote:

Glad you're loving it! Just wasn't my flavor but I sure had a lot of fun messing with it.
I've snagged a varigate 8+ yesterday. Still getting into the workflow but this thing is nuts. So many possibilities. I think the only thing that's an inherent problem with the design is that since you're using the sliders to change multiple parameters, it can be tough to visualize your state after switching away from a mode, changing other settings, then switching back, since the sliders no longer reflect your state. We'll see if this annoys me over the long term but I'm loving this thing right now.
