Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
there's a 80's silver face Twin Reverb around here with a hard case in pretty great condition for $850. is that worth it? I'm trying to swear off tube amps but this one's a dream. don't think I can hold off if they're willing to go down to $750 :S
literally woke up ready to order a jc120 after the tubes in my carvin went REEEE last night but then I saw this lol

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I saw a super twin recently for a similar price, really want that but can't afford it now. A friend of mine has one and it sounds fantastic, he can never not mention how cheap he got it for at 17, though.
Another friend has a silverface which is also great, so I'd say either one's worth it. Granted, loud af.
I'm bidding on a Peavey Pacer now. It would be my 4th solid state 12" combo (two of them kept at the space), but it's a clean late '70s-early '80s, has reverb and a fuzzy overdrive.
Need a Peavey in my life again, sold my first amp - a KB50? - to a black metal keyboardist.

80s eh... what speakers ? Has it been modded ? If it sounds good it's probably worth.resincum wrote:there's a 80's silver face Twin Reverb around here with a hard case in pretty great condition for $850. is that worth it? I didn't start as an adult, but I was never good at playing violin and transitioned to playing it with pedals and sampling it and stuff when I got into these things. Need to get a pickup again and do that more often actually. Probably haven't touched the violin in ages...ognoy wrote:Anyone here who has started playing violin/viola/cello as adults?
I love the sound of strings, but string players are usually boring and not really keen on playing with loud amps and weird pedals.
Thinking of picking up a viola. Not planning on playing classical stuff, but if I can manage to play some simple melodies, drones and screeching noises I'm pretty happy.

I do not, but I do dig some strings with effects and/or crazy preparations.ognoy wrote:Anyone here who has started playing violin/viola/cello as adults?

I recommend Horseman, Pass By: Mark Molnar has a drool-worthy pedalboard (as does percussionist Bennett Bedoukian)

I haven't checked in since I saw him a few years back, but Tyler Borden is another cellist on the noisy/distorto side: https://tylerjborden.bandcamp.com/

Is there a Whammy type pedal (or Boss PS, etc) with stereo ins and outs? I don't even care about the format (treadle or not, etc). Could be a multi-effect or whatever. The detuning does not have to be independent L/R, actually I want to detune them the same, I just want to preserve the stereo information, and be able to detune it live.

Eventide pitch factor does that if you blend one voice fully. It's true stereo but I'm not to sure the separation is too great but that may just be how i have ran it. The detune is killer though. It is super nice for delays in the 910 mode tooK2000 wrote:Is there a Whammy type pedal (or Boss PS, etc) with stereo ins and outs? I don't even care about the format (treadle or not, etc). These are great leads, thanks. I wonder if the Digitech iPedal (I forget the name, I think that's it) has a detune option.

Can anyone make out what's on its pedalboard?
