thinking the Eloquai would let me replace both the FLXS and the VGates?
Darn. Would've sold you mine.

If anyone wants any of this stuff let me know. I'd rather it go to a bro before I list it on MW.

co-signed.

those exact three things are the reason I haven't gotten an Eloquencer although I've thought about it many times. Still would like to try the Elo at some point though..... but I just can't see myself getting rid of FLXS1 with the current options out there.

so, yeah. the arp per step is BALLER. love it. that's the only thing (from watching Eloquai tutorial vidjas) i think i'll miss.

but with being able to tie patterns together, that's pretty identical to changing the step length from 16 to 64 on the FLXy no?

again, no hands on yet. THEORETICALS.

gets in tomorrow. YESHHHHHH.

But maybe I spoke too soon

https://rabidelephant.com/blogs/general ... -sequencer

“We have been wrestling with the sequencer concept for a very long time now. Hardware sequencers were always kind of a let-down in terms of how far you could go musically. We'd always have to use several sequencers to sequence (modulate) another sequencer. And so they remained just little 'rough idea' machines. At the other end, larger, super powerful hardware sequencers had the power to take a rough idea and go much farther in terms of phrasing and arrangement, however, they were not so fun to use - we found it faster to 'edit' these sequences in a DAW with clicky mouse - *a lot* faster. And if they weren't immediate or fun, then why not just do it in the DAW?

Our sequencer history started with a sequential switch, then into a few years of a huge, DAW replacement sequencer with arranging capability, tons of outputs, MIDI, etc. But this sequencer, while having some very powerful concepts and better editing paradigms, still didn't sit right with us. It wasn't quite fun or inspiring enough - which is what we really loved in our favourite hardware sequencers, despite their 'make a full song' inabilities.

Recently, we found ourselves trying to find suitable sequencers for our 'Elephant Rig' and kinda came up short. So we went back to the drawing board, programmed up several Max plugins, and challenged ourselves to come up with the most musically inspiring and *fun* sequencer concept that we could. And so recently, we hit a special moment where it all came together musically - it made sense and all of the features complemented each other perfectly. So much so that we decided to immediately start development of our own hardware sequencer.

It will be released for Euro as a perfectly WYSIWYG machine to retain 100% immediacy (which is a main point of modular). We currently have it planned with an expander which adds more 'digitally' kinds of things like MIDI, a clocking system, quantisation, USB, 'hidden modes', etc...

We are also investigating releasing it as a standalone machine a bit later with some more DAW friendly features and more 'savey' kinds of things suitable for folks who want to use it outside of the modular environment.

We'll post some teasers and fun updates as we go!”

so.... i was super excited about grabbing a Natural Gate when they first hit, and if a trade or something came up i would definitely take it but..... and i don't know how much of this is Rabid's fault, but the whole scarcity/feels overpriced/queuing for them has completely killed any desire.

i don't know the Rabid guys at all, they're probably the nicest peoples ever, but i get an instinctive shiver whenever i see their names pop up.

Yeah I remember having the Natural Gate in my cart the first time it ever came out and I didn't order it..... like the ONE time I actually didn't order something. Now I have one paid up and who knows when it will show up but that's ok....

Regardless, I like what they had to say in the blog post and am very curious of what they've come up with. Not holding my breath but if it's all encompassing like they say, intuitive and still fun to use then I'm definitely interested.

I’m interested in seeing what RE come up with for a sequencer. I got one of the first batch of Natural Gate just on a lark, before the hype. I love Natural Gate but also I feel like I can’t possibly sell it now, the second hand price is too high! It makes me not want to even think about it.

I personally won’t pay up front for gear that has more than a 6 month turn around, I feel like the opportunity cost is too high. I hope the situation resolves and settles down in the future for RE, if they drop a killer sequencer I will be all about it *if* it’s not a Natural Gate situation all over again.

Yeah, I'm hoping they can get up to a normal supply and demand because I'm interested in their Knobs module as well but of course can't get that either......

Hope they figure all that out before they make the sequencer.

Anybody know of a good crossfader module? I'd like it to her DJ quality as far as the crossfader is concerned similar to those used for "scratching". I'd like it to be used for audio or cv crossfading. Preferably horizontal. The Synthwerks SP-1P is the only one I've found and no idea how the action on the crossfader is and not easy to find (I think it's DIY kits?). The other I've found is the Rabid Elephant Knobs but their modules are unobtainable for the most part (and the location of their crossfader is horrible IMO). Essentially I'd like to be able to, for example, take a sequence going through a sound source where I've split them, one with distortion and one without and "scratch" the distortion in and out (or just scratch the cv of the distortion module) so I can create patterns, "crab the fader", chops, etc in a performance type way.

I bought a used module from one of those guys on muffs, and he was one of the nicest peoples ever in a pool of damn nice peoples...just sayin'

I use Cold Mac for cross fading but it’s not the most ergonomic design. What about Planar 2?
