I'm in camp illogical here. If you want added features, just get a computer and be done with it. Get a TR-2, Kate.

The trouble is people have now turned me onto these expensive things that are still just tremolos but really nice ones .

Sorry please talk about something else I'll stop controlling this thread

TR-2 is killer but the perceived volume drop is very real and annoying.

Oh yeah, like how the volume completely drops every other second? Really annoying, dunno what's up with that.

Yeah, I like my tremolo with no volume drop. That's why I go boutique, for the transparent trem tones.

Save the pleb shit for the next limited run Instahype thread, please.

Basically with the TR-2, the "fully dry" of the trem sounds like 95% as loud as the volume does when it's bypassed, no matter how subtle you set the effect. It's incredibly annoying because, obviously, what's the fucking point of stepping on something that isn't a tuner and it makes you quieter?

You know what hasn't been mentioned in this discussion and is a far superior pedal? The Mad Doctor Stutter. That thing fucking rips. I should really pick one up at some point (loved it in the tour box).

my favourite trem is in my Traynor and i think it *boosts* the perceived volume a little bit? it also works better with the reverb on, gives the trem more to work with somehow

I've got a SolidGoldFX Stutter Lite tremolo and it works great and has a volume control. No crazy features, just rate, depth and volume, with a switch between old school amp like tremolo and more hard chop. It's not a better price than used TR-2, to be sure, but it's not crazy expensive if you want something simple that has a volume control.

Nobody has mentioned the Zvex Sonar, which can be a set & forget tremolo (with tap tempo), or a deeper wave-shaping beast if you want it (it also has a Zvex Machine integrated into the build). I really love the ramping down/up function the most, though.

It was fixed by Boss, but I believe there is no way to identify them other than playing them.

Volume drop is annoying. The one I have now has an internal trim for boost, so anything that replaces it has to either have that or a gain knob on the outside.

Oh wow the sonar looks amazing I had no idea!! Way up on the list now if I do decide to upgrade.

Allegedly the TR-2 volume drop was fixed in 2006, and also allegedly there's a volume trimpot you can adjust? I have no experience, was just curious about it: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index ... p.1215096/

Either way, it's a easy fix, just a resistor swap. Out of all the trems I've had the TR-2 was the best for getting super cool 80s synth pop hard square pulse sounds when put between a octave and a envelope filter :thumb:
