Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Took the modular out of my recording setup for the last few months. Just never got anything done with it in a way that was conducive to making music.
I'm ready to dive back in with the CV Tools released by Ableton (seems like a really great way to sync everything up) but I'm gonna need to reduce the footprint significantly. It's just too big at the moment, which is a nice problem to have but unfortunately I am short on space.
Really thinking about picking up the Squid Salmpe thing from ALM, but trying to have some patience and see what others think of it first.

The ableton CV tools are bananas, makes me want both modular and ableton even more.

Haven't been buying modular for ages.behndy wrote:screaming into the voiiiiiid where have my peoples GOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Now considering expanding into 7u though. Taking the research slowly (and would need to save a lot if I were to do it).

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
been off the forums for a lil but back to say/see what's up. got another Morphagene on the way bc I miss my old one. thought I wouldn't miss it bc of 301 and 2x w/'s but I miss it. sold the 301 and teletype. oh! also have mannequins RIP coming, which I'm stoked to have. I've been going modular level out into a Mackie mixer mostly but this will let me hit some nice transformers on the way out and record line level so I can skip the Mackie. I think I want qpas and am gonna get mimeophon when I can.prob gonna assemble the new MN system myself. I hadn't bought anything since Behndys 3 sis a lil while ago but somethings gotten into me again haha. also thinking of getting a shuttle control... anyone have one?? thoughts ?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
lol. i actualllllly have a Shuttle Control i never use. it's pretty boss! super easy to configure with the web app, damn versatile. i have a black panel for it too, not the official one, one Eric! did for me that has pink text.
i don't use it because when i sequence with the Deluge, it's 4 outs. are plenty for me.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I've been playing my modular a lot lately after I got a few 1U tiles to interface with all my external gear. I've got the Mono Station on one of the line ins and Mood in the Pedal I/O loop. Currently sending line outs to the H9, but it's not super happy with line level signals. I'd really like to swap it out for an OTO Bam as it would be a lot more straightforward for what I want/need. I have noticed that I am definitely missing a few envelopes and VCAs in my rack though, but I've got 20hp free, so I'm really gassing for an Xaoc Zadar and the Make Noise X-Pan. Don't really have the funds for a Zadar, X-Pan, and Bam at the moment, though

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
heyyyyyyyy. so, i'd PREFER to not have to deal with a pedal interface module in my setup, but using the Zoia i can't figure out how to attenuate the incoming audio signal. am i tripping? the Audio Input module just seems to have IN and OUT, no gain options?

Found this on another forum m8:behndy wrote:heyyyyyyyy. so, i'd PREFER to not have to deal with a pedal interface module in my setup, but using the Zoia i can't figure out how to attenuate the incoming audio signal. am i tripping? the Audio Input module just seems to have IN and OUT, no gain options?
I think the default input gain is -6dB. I haven’t touched it, but you can adjust it in the settings (shift and bottom right pad). Output, I manage through whatever the connection is before the audio out module, or in between modules if there’s any kind of overload. You can also put a VCA anywhere you’d like if you need more control.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
yah. there's a - 6 db and -12 db pad option in the main settings. gets quieter, but still distorts.
murrrrr. was thinking of grabbing a 2hp Avert? would a powered attenuverter change an audio signal or cleanly reduce the volume without banging up the sound?

Maybe describe what’s up with your 207 and I’ll take a whack at figuring out what’s up. I don’t own one but did do a lot of reading on it when I was thinking about getting one.behndy wrote:ABLETON HAS ALWAYS A-FEARED ME. SINCE THE 2 TIMES I TRIED TO GET COMFY AT IT AND FAILED HARD LIKE BUTTS.

In a minute I’m gonna ride my bike down to the DHL office and go pick up my Plankton NüTone (umlauts mine) and marvel at the blue glowy nutubes. Maybe mangle some audio with it too!
Also bought a ticket for the Velocity synth meet/trade show/performance event. If you live near Seattle you should take a look, might be pretty rad?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
so, if i have a CV pattern going into Input 1 it dupes it down to 2, 3 and 4. all good.
but if say the CV pattern is 1/8 notes, if i send a 1/4 note gate pattern to Channel 1 and a 1/2 note gate pattern to gate on Channel 2 i thought it should hold the notes until they get a new gate? like if the pattern is A, B, C, C#, D, E, F, G, then i should be getting out -
Channel 01 A, C, D, F
Channel 02 A, D
sent out the quantized CV outs no?
it.... doesn't. instead i can hear the notes shift before the envelope closes.
annnnnnd it passes Gate Out through from Gate In but.... in a WEIRD way. odd patterns.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Hmm try multing the CV from input 1 to input 2 to break the normalization. Just guessing that maybe this will help.
Also the gate outs are intended for when you are quantizing continuous CV without the gate in. If you want a copy of the gate input just mult it. But if you want to quantize an LFO whenever the voltage changes enough to create a new note event you can use the gate out to fire a trigger or gate to an envelope generator, for example.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
ah. okay. i thought the Gate Out just multed what went into that channel Gate In. i understood that's how the Gate Out worked with no input, didn't know it stayed the same. GOTCHA.
will try the CV multing. from everything i'd read/seen vids of, it looked like it was supposed to work sort of sample and hold where it freezes the note on Gate Input. it's TOTALLY not doing that right now though
i was hoping to have a lead melody into Channel 1, then freeze the note outs on Channel 2 to send a in tune slower melody bass line.
