So it only cost me 18 cents to upgrade my free shipping to express; Praga should be here tomorrow!

Well that was quick. Cold Mac and Ears are both gone in a trade for a Bastl Dark Matter, which is not at all what I was looking for and won't fit in my case, but it looks really fun so I guess it's a good thing I kept my HEK and uZeus :idk:

So I sat down with Zadar and Praga for the first time and got lost for a good hour when I initially just set out to plug Praga in to make sure it worked. Both are so perfectly immediate and satisfying. It is so nice to have Aux sends in Praga too! I had Mood patched into one and got a really nice texture on top of a slowly modulating drone.

I hope you dig Dark Matter. I did, but not enough to keep it around.

But I also acknowledge that I'm barely beyond dilettante status at this point, so my problems and disappoints with it may be my own damn fault. I did step enough time with it to figure out what I liked about it - bass heavy evil - and what was lacking, for me, drone and shit-fucking-upness.

I've replaced it with MI Shelves, which def brings the low end and has plenty of outputs for feedback loops and weird routing. Everything to 11 = hnw = :!!!:

The wavefolder on Disting is my primary distortion/FSU atm. Considering some of the wackier Doepfer options, maybe Geiger Counter if I ever find one at a price I'm willing to pay.

One of my friends recently traded his Dark Matter for a 100 Grit by Schlappi and seems to love it.

I'm excited to give the Dark Matter a try. I'm honestly not even sure what I am expecting from it or what I'm going to use it for, but I like the ideas behind it.

I love feedback loops! But if I remember his issue was that he was running distorted thing through it and it wasn’t adding much on top. And also I hear it thrives with some negative space. Like one drum hit and wait for the feedback to fill in.

The Doepfer a-189-1 bit cruncher module is awesome, I forget why I sold mine, I think I probably thought I was going to get a Malgorithm and then never actually did, now I want my cruncher back.
I've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea.

I don't have any distortion in my rack actually. I will most likely be using it to mangle samples from Nebulae.

Moving to a much smaller place in the city soon and won't be able to take even a third of my gear. Feels garbage man. Idk what I'm gonna do/what I can or should take.

Probably have room for only one keyboard and one rack, maybe two but not set up at the same time.

That is a shitty situation, but it is totally possible to downsize and still be happy. Start by trying to patch with fewer modules and focus on what you really need in each patch. Maybe build a couple small racks on Modulargrid (or in real life :idk: ) with super specific functions and goals.

It's on the want list.

I just got a bunch of new modules in via trade - most utilities, but still things to figure out if/how/where I'm using - so I'm holding off on buying anything new atm. Or trying to do so anyway. But the 189 is near top of the list.
