A sub? Nice.
I bought a pair of used Kef IQ9 locally today for like $200. Been looking for something new since I inadvertently blew one of my old Philips speakers watching a drum video on youtube (be careful with those!). Gonna take a while getting used to floorstanders after so many years with smaller speakers on stands. The bass seems not as tight, but some spikes might remedy that. Overall they sound really good.

Sorry, forgot there is an actual HS8s sub. I was talking about the regular HS8 monitors.
Those tower speakers look cool af. What amp are you using for those? In my experience with passive speakers, a good amp (with at least 2x the power of speakers RMS) will definitely help to get a tighter bass response.

Oh yeah, those monitors! I've been eyeing them from time to time, seems a solid buy.
I'm using a '70s Sansui G-301 amp. It says it's 2x26w @ 8ohms, but it's stupid loud so I never turn it past 3 on the dial. Listening to Code Orange (I am King) now and it slayyyyys.
[edit] To clarify - sounds much bigger, better separation between the lower register sounds and more detail in the higher registers. Of course my old speakers only had the one bass driver, a silk dome mid driver + tweeter. Guess it makes sense then that the high frequencies sound different on these, but still natural, not unpleasant. Where my old speakers were more consistent and forgiving, these reveal more shortcomings/muddiness in the mix. Which is good but also makes some recordings less fun to listen to. Whatever, I'm not an audiophile so as long as the music is good I can live with it.

Didn't knew you decided to jump on this one! If i needed a new reverb i'd be all over it, Metal setting haunted me from the demos, and if the modulation is anything similar to the program on the Bakfram it is killer.coldbrightsunlight wrote:Just got this in yesterday!

I was borrowing it from Kent to see if I definitely wanted to jump on it. After half an hour playing I knew it wasn't going anywhere
No idea if it's like the Bakfram but the modulation is a nice touch.

Anyone else run out of GAS for music stuffs? all I want now is a basement full of rations and a closet full of guns and ammo. And a wind-powered generator.
