My religious parents, who used to be Fox News muppets, but pretty early on (pre-2016 election) announced their hatred for Drumpf (score two for actual religious conviction), get a steady stream of emails from their erstwhile compatriots seeking to re-educate the apostates, and those emails are an eye-opener - full of bullshite about how DJT is "The Salty Sailor" - a profane instrument of G-dawg's will. Confirmation bias will drive just about anybody but the most extraordinarily conscious and strong-willed to make up endless justifications for whatever gut feeling they got about someone/something at the jump.
