back in the day those tuck-'n'-roll Kustom PAs were the shit. they were ubiquitous, because they were bulletproof, affordable, and LOUD AS FUCK. i used a system with one of those 8-channel heads and two of the five-foot-tall cabs to amplify my 4-piece acoustic free-improv ensemble in Mo Ming, a large de-sacralized church on the Near North Side of Chicago that had been converted to a hall for modern dance productions, and it filled the room with Dan's acoustic violin loud and clear via the two SM58s i flew on booms above either side of the instrument. no fuss, no muss, no madly complex wiring snakes, just big loud solid-state sound that was about as good as you could expect in the 1968-78 period. throw 'em in the trunk, leave 'em out in the rain, whatever...you couldn't kill 'em. if only amps were that dependable today.
