corection: the silly non-guitar patch on the AC is Mandolin. i'm going to see if i can use it as a faux double-tracker like that 30ms Keeley thingy.

Received my SMS CTP jerry garcia preamp today :D.
Sounds great. I just tested feeding it to my quilter interblock and then in a hiwatt 4x12 with brand new eminence speakers vs into the power amp of my mesa boogie and into the original 1x12 EV12L speaker.

There is a substantial difference. Further testing going on to figure out if it is due to the power amp or speaker difference. The boogie option is way more bright and overdrives much quicker (might have to tame the output on the sms). Sounds more "alive" and clear I'd say. Both sounds pretty good but yeah... All testing done at low-medium volume.

Man I don't know what to hope for. Have to get an expensive tube power amp or have to hope for the speaker to break-in and sound more alive...

Edit: yeah I'm not sure why but after a bit more testing I think the presence on the boogie power amp is responsible for most of the brightness difference. The boogie also overdrives way more than the quilter, which I don't really understand why but hey.. Anyway, I think it sounds great through the quilter and 4x12. I' like to test a dedicated tube power amp (that does not overdrive like the boogie does) and see if I hear a difference but happy with the setup as it is :)

I was half temped to buy a walrus audio power source or pick one of those one spot bricks but your recommendation for the MBD2 was so spot on I have to give this bad boy a try.

The dc7 is much more versatile than those other 2 you mentioned. I power my elektrons, lyra 8 and bass station with it as well as a few other pedals. Probably one of the most important gear purchases I think I've made tbh.

I have never considered powering my synths with anything other than the provided power supplies. You are opening my eyes to a whole new way to clean up the mess of tangled wires and power strips that is my basement floor. If I could find a power supply that could handle my Digitakt, Werkstatt, Keystep Pro, and a couple tabletop pedals, I could probably get rid of at least one power strip

What Elektron gear are you powering with the DC7? Looks like my Digitakt (and Keystep Pro) needs 12VDC 1A, but the DC7 only outputs 12VDC 500mA

DC7 looks cool with the usb powering and super small enclosure. I personally have the MXR/CAE MC403. Got it for $240 CAD which is not a bad deal. Unlimited POWER!

I have my digitakt, digitone and octatrack going off that then the extention 8 or whatever its called doing my lyra and bass station then keystep through usb (not sure about the pro).

You'd never the grey Y cable that doesn't double the voltage but give its enough mA and the green cable to power the elektrons. I believe it is the one in the link below. The lyra and bass station are both good with one outlet, red tip at 12volts.

I was running out of room on my power strip with all those power supplies and now everything is going off 1 plug. Thats great but does it help with the cable mess...not really haha. I still have cables going all over the place.

Oooh interesting! I did not realize there were cables available to sum current. Now I have power supply gas!

It really is a solid investment if yr trying to save room and not worry about powering a lot of stuff. I was a bit nervous about my elektrons at first but I've used it for so long now it's not a concern. I will say that it doesn't work with the new black versions of a4 mk2 and analog rytm mk2, if anyone else is wondering. Which us a bummer but you can't win em all I guess haha

It is hard to be excited about a power supply, but the DC7 is that power supply. I have 2 DC7s and also a Cioks8 extender for one of them. I am a big soi boi for cioks stuff. I have too many pedal boards and way too many pedals but the cioks stuff is so flexible that I velcro them to the bottom of my boards and interchange them all the time. It is a real worthy investment and if you can catch a sale or a deal, it's the same price as much less powerful and versatile supplies. I bought my first DC7 shortly after they first came out, whatever that first big sale day was, I snagged it...the second one I grabbed on Black Friday. I'd even get a third...though it seems the Cioks4 would be a better move...but with buying an AC adapter for the cioks4 you are pretty much at the price of a DC7 if used/discounted. Just an amazing device.

In GAS news...keeping them delivery folk busy!

Some dwarfcraft devices that I've been wanting to check out that I snagged at very fair prices:

Pitchgrinder!!!

SOMMS - Satan Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas (can't wait to plug this one in!!!)

...and my first Pine-Box Customs - WIDE from the wild series. I'd like to try them all, but this one really spoke to me from a sound perspective and those aesthetics...

getting a LITTLE better at controlling my GAS, but had one explosive night with a few too many drinks and a bit too much in my paypal balance. Still waiting on a handful of pedals I pre-ordered in December and then another that should've arrived today and a few other pre-orders made in January that won't show probably for another month or two. After that, might try not to buy anything new for a few months...I'm really having fun exploring all my purchases from the past year, just need to figure out a way to stop browsing the classifieds as that's the poison pill for me, seeing a solid deal on something I have always been curious about mixed with a little bit of fun money to play with (and I've been selling off a lot of stuff from other older hobbies lately to clear space which results in some fun money). I've been reading up on building pedals, so hopefully this can all start shift soon to rolling my own.

The big ones coming up that I gotta try and control myself on are the Bananana Tararira release in Feb and the Bitmap v2 release when they finally become available. I plan to snag both in 2021, but maybe not the second they are made available...also still got my eyes on the new stuff from Damnation Audio and at some point I will break down and spend a ton of cash on Vongon's Ultrasheer, want to get a newer version of the Tensor and need to replace my Fabrikat that I traded. Busy schedule of pedal purchasing planned...let's hope nothing else interesting gets released or crosses my path (yeah right   ).

Hotone Acoustic Simulator

the wah is for the main setup; the AS will be used mostly on the front-end auxiliary board to provide additional voices and textures for loops. it's surprisingly convincing...i watched a bunch of demos and it beat the Boss unit by miles. it's also waaaaay simpler than a piezo bridge and an acoustic guitar processor. but it's deeper than it looks; there are 7 or 8 different modes including a banjo mode that's kind of crap in isolation but makes an interesting faux Asian sound with additional processing, and multiband semi-parametric EQ, but you have to menu-dive to adjust the parameters.
