you absolutely have to edit the EQ on the individual models to bring it to life. if you have a looper, you could record 30 or 40 seconds of chords and fingerpicking and let it cycle around while you adjust the particular EQ band one noodge at a time. i wound up putting the Lead II in open D tuning and picking with one hand while adjusting the knob on the AC with my free hand. the LO band more or less controls the fundamental of the lowest two strings, MIDRANGE mainly affects the middle pair, HIGH does the top two strings, and PRESENCE lets you mess with the high frequencies which are more prominent in electric guitar than acoustic (picture the tone of an open E string on a Stratocaster, then compare to an open string on a flattop). as you vary the EQ band you can hear the loudness and balance of the two strings shift. the frequency increments don't make sense compared to actual pitch in Hz...there's no sensible reason why going from 80 to 100 Hz should change the low end of a guitar whose lowest note is above 100 Hz, but it does. the EQ is described as "semi-parametric," which i suspect means shelving that moves when the notated frequency shifts. once you've tweaked the models to your satisfaction and saved them as presets you'll want to adjust the volume level setting of your individual presets and more or less match the levels...some models, the Hummingbird and Grand Auditorium particularly, are WAY louder than the others even after extensive EQing. the low end is much easier to dial in than the treble because highs are so overaccentuated in the tone of the electric guitar. i still need to mess with my models, but i'm trying to do other stuff. one last thing: use the neck pickup for the most convincing result. its tone profile is closer to an unamplified flattop, which usually has the soundhole overlapping the 24th-fret harmonic. using the bridge pickup is equivalent to picking 3/4" from the bridge of an acoustic.

Just ordered a Gold Tone ME micro bass :)
(The solid body one)

Can't wait to receive it. I had no bass anymore so I wanted a cheap one to help songwriting and stuff. Hopefully they are well built. Looks really fun and from the 2-3 youtube videos I've seen they sound good :) Can't wait to plug it in my hilbish beta

The old bassist from my band has been making quite a few mini basses and mini fretless basses. I don't get it, but :idk:

Always wanted to try one of those tiny tiny basses. Seems silly and fun.

I had this Japanese brand for a while under the radar, and finally I pulled the trigger: Electrograve Ripper Fuzz and Quad-Oscillator.
These are some very nice devices!

Yeah the mayones and stradi mini basses for example look really cute and fun. However they are around 17 inches scale basses. This is 23 inches so closer to a guitar which I think is gonna be more playable with less of an adjustment to make to be able to play it. I just hope the quality is good enough and I am not let down by it.

I have not played all week but I should have some 12" flat cables in the mail. I get to re-arrange the board and play this weekend hopefully :joy:

MrNovember wrote:In addition to the Gretsch Gin Rickey that I just got, which I did end up re-stringing for Nashville tuning, I sold my AFX Station and bought an LR Baggs M1A for my Simon and Patrick Songsmith. Those are two very opposite ends of the spectrum, but acoustic is pretty much all been playing lately and I had hardly even touched the AFX Station. I've been loving the pickup on the Gin Rickey (it sounds so good with some reverb and delay!) so I wanted to finally invest in a good pickup for my other acoustic.

I might order a OBNE Signal Blender soon and do a little pedalboard re-arranging; I'm thinking of having a Superego in one loop of the Signal Blender and a Count to 5 in the other, then I'd be able to blend in some drones and weird looping textures in with the main signal. I currently have all that in series on my pedalboard and it can get a bit muddled, so I'm thinking something like the Signal Blender will be able to clean it all up
So, the M1A showed up and it was probably the most stressful mod I've ever done to a guitar. It needed a 1/2" hole drilled, but the largest drill bit I had was 3/8". I thought that would be close enough, but holy hell did it ever take some extra work to enlarge that hole to the right size (twhs?...?...). Anyways, it sounds amazing and I absolutely love it!

ALso, ended up pre-ordering a Make Noise Strega. Now all I want to do is send my acoustic into the Strega to make some wild noises!

Epiphone SGs are underrated...the cheap ones gave a bad name to the more expensive ones which are quite good. i have their 61 SG with the Vibrola, and it does everything you want an SG to do. that's a really nice burst.

Thanks dubkitty! I'm shocked at how playable it is. I've never played an Epiphone before, or a Gibson with a slim taper '60s neck, so I didn't really know what to expect. But the neck and the fretboard are both smooth as silk and it is EASY to play. Quite honestly, I wish my Gibson had a neck like this.

The '61 with Vibrola looks sweet, but how are the tuners? The only problem I've had so far has been it going out of tune between playing sessions.

I played it so much today I have dents in my fingertips, it's just too much fun! :!!!:
