In important cultural landmarks, today is the 30th anniversary of the release of The Low End Theory.

Back in the days when I was a teenager........
Same day as Nevermind? Interesting.
I heard it is in Kurt's will that on the 30th anniversary they would change the name of the lead-off song to Reeks Of Middle-Aged Existential Crisis.

Yup... and, weirdly, the actually bigger-at-the-time (but let's not talk about it now) underground-to-mainstream release of September 24, 1991 was actually Blood Sugar Sex Magik.manymanyhaha wrote:Back in the days when I was a teenager........

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I gotta admit....that record was a big deal to me. I still listen to it, even though it has its cringe-worthy moments. Frusciante was the first rhythm player I ever really loved, and probably was my gateway drug for guitarists like Eddie Hazel, Leo Nocentelli, and John McGeogh.Heraclitus Akimbo wrote:Yup... and, weirdly, the actually bigger-at-the-time (but let's not talk about it now) underground-to-mainstream release of September 24, 1991 was actually Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
You are probably right. I was working in a record store (or rather a cd store with a few vinyl records that didn't sell) at the time and I remember selling tons of all three records though it certainly took awhile for Nevermind to grab hold. I went to a Nirvana show a couple weeks after Nevermind was released and if there were more than a 100 people there, I'd be a little surprised. It was a big theater and felt almost completely empty.Heraclitus Akimbo wrote:

Been listening to so much "dad rock" lately that I'm a little afraid my wife might be pregnant

From that strange time when NIN was all the rage, and Blackie was trying out industrial aesthetics like some new BDSM gear...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Mainly newer jazz trios:
• Mammal Hands
• GoGoPenguin
• BADBADNOTGOOD
• Nubian Twist
• Nubya Garcia
I decided to narrow my rig down to a Nano+, a bunch of Teles and a couple of small amps.
I’m playing in this Two Heavens project, which is a G/B/D trio with an occasional lady singer, and trying to figure out the next batch of songs.
So think a hyper dark inspired by the above type vibe.
