I remember when I first got into pedals I had stumbled upon pigtronix and snagged his Envelope Phaser the EP1. Koltai was a one man wrecking machine back then...I caught wind of his stuff at some show and was blown away and wanted one. He was demo'ing a modded one and turned out he lived a few subway stops from me, so one night I went over to his apartment and he popped it open and soldered the changes on his bed in his one bedroom apt in brooklyn. It was pretty cool to me at the time.

More than anything I’m just feeling a bit of a rethink on “deals” on Pigtronix, because a bit of reflection makes me feel foolish telling everyone these “deals” are deals so often. Nothing against their stuff, just the reality of their normal and sale prices.
I definitely appreciate the heads up when I see them. I snagged a micro disnortion when they went stupid deal (one of the many times) and I have to say...that thing RIPS. it is super versatile and actually one of the better dirts I own in a blind test. Because of all the stupid deals though I feel like I can never pay retail or even used prices for pigtronix since the stupids usually fall a bit lower than the used market (not low enough that it justifies anyone buying many and flipping them, but low enough that if you are on the fence, you'll go for the stupid deal). I think it's a bad look for pigtronix. To me, they are like the high end budget brand or more realistically the budget of the high end.
It's odd when sales make things cheaper new than used...I heard of some people selling the blow out harmon meatboxes to guitar center for more than they paid harmon.
