i've been mostly trying to ignore this later gen of Pigtronix minis and nothing you've said really encourages me to look closer (i mean not unless it's years from now and the fetishization of old oop pedals lessens and i happen to find one for, like, half of what MF is asking for that SDOTD)

i think this is the whole "designer of the legendary Memory Man" schtick at work, but didn't Xvive already roll that out? and Pigtronix before that? and EHX before that?

i mean, it's taken me years to admit it, what with all the smoke blowing, but i'm not sure i really prefer the sound of the Memory Man and its progeny to other analog delays that may or may not have some of their own legendary smoke blowing in my face :idk:

I’m pretty much on the same page. I feel like most of us who aren’t new or starting our rigs over have probably been pretty well settled on BBD delays for a while if we even cared. The Echoman and the Constellator seem to have closed the feature gap to a standard sized delay if you needed a mini if that was really critical to you. And I know from experience the later sounds very good. It’s just really hard for me to get excited about a BBD delay with feedback and modulation with an on/off switch, so the mini format just doesn’t thrill me. The world has changed: we play our pedals now, not just through them.

The sounds-that-have-been-played-to-death-for-forty-years thing—also feel Meh-er about that. (Though I will say that Meh-er’s occasional use of an Adrenalinn is much more interesting than the rest of his gear schtick.) Sure, I won’t disagree that a good Memory Man sounds good. But it’s just lost preciousness to me. And maybe it’s good that a lot of sounds have gone that way for me.

ha -yass - the Adrenalinn has surprising staying power - been using one a bunch in the "theater-pit" and it's been a real problem solver even tho it has been updated in yoinks
i've even gotten used enough to it's odd matrix interface to tweak pretty effectively on the fly (i mean not in the moment, but on arrival at a new site and there's some odd problem because of the room or the backline)....

Cheapest Eventide MicroPitch I’ve ever seen by far, $119.99 (plus tax): https://www.musicgoround.com/product/40 ... ects-delay

The catch: store-pickup only, Greenfield, WI (Milwaukee metro) Music Go Round.

Yeah, about that . . .

Pigtronix Phase Ranger is the Stupid Deal today, 33% off at $99. 1590B sized VCA phaser with depth/speed and a 4 stage/8 stage switch: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid Probably doesn’t suck, but it certainly doesn’t seem thrilling.

This is one of the very new series. At 33% off. This isn’t the usual minimum advertised price strategy. For Pigtronix (and Supro and D’Angelico, all in the same corporate family), “suckers pay retail” seems to apply.

So, yeah, I think this could be the last time I bother to tell people Pigtronix is at its real price.

Maybe the bigger thing on Pigtronix is they seem to be making moves on the normie market and that just makes the company itself more normie and less special.

Caveats (also text included because sometimes imgur doesn't display on some browsers):

Seems to also have another Notable Mention underneath the first, but also just might be a dupe of the first (sticker printers, man), or could just be no PSU/candy ;)

MGR rep confirmed this morn that this is on the 90-day in store only hold and is not available to ship, sadly for non-Wassconsin ILF ppl
Good morning!

I bet they all sound good honestly. Pigtronix certainly doesn't make garbage. The Space Rip seems kind of cool! Not much into mini pedals though...so much so that I tend to glaze over when I see them.

Ps. My original comment wasn't meant to be snarky or anything thrown at you bud. Please carry on with your deals, good sir! :joy:

Nah, no offense comprehended. More than anything I’m just feeling a bit of a rethink on “deals” on Pigtronix, because a bit of reflection makes me feel foolish telling everyone these “deals” are deals so often. Nothing against their stuff, just the reality of their normal and sale prices.

I remember when I first got into pedals I had stumbled upon pigtronix and snagged his Envelope Phaser the EP1. Koltai was a one man wrecking machine back then...I caught wind of his stuff at some show and was blown away and wanted one. He was demo'ing a modded one and turned out he lived a few subway stops from me, so one night I went over to his apartment and he popped it open and soldered the changes on his bed in his one bedroom apt in brooklyn. It was pretty cool to me at the time.

I definitely appreciate the heads up when I see them. I snagged a micro disnortion when they went stupid deal (one of the many times) and I have to say...that thing RIPS. it is super versatile and actually one of the better dirts I own in a blind test. Because of all the stupid deals though I feel like I can never pay retail or even used prices for pigtronix since the stupids usually fall a bit lower than the used market (not low enough that it justifies anyone buying many and flipping them, but low enough that if you are on the fence, you'll go for the stupid deal). I think it's a bad look for pigtronix. To me, they are like the high end budget brand or more realistically the budget of the high end.

It's odd when sales make things cheaper new than used...I heard of some people selling the blow out harmon meatboxes to guitar center for more than they paid harmon.
