That would definitely look cool but I wanted to keep it a little more understated. Plus I bet lights reflecting off it on stage would be very confusing lol. Could probably take out the first row with a light beam.

I'm still hoping to stumble upon one of these for reasonable money. Beautiful guitar.
Not sure this's reasonable or close enough, but this just popped up for sale:

Define reasonable. I have one of these in parts laying around my storage space.

Yeah, I sent him a PM and someone else on here actually messaged me too. I think I'm too out of the loop (aka cheap) for gear prices now lol.

I bought my "dream guitar" this week. Gretsch Duo Jet 6128T Player's Edition with Filtertrons. I first got the bug for one about 10 years ago when I played a Power Jet in a Guitar Center. But I couldn't afford one until about 2 years ago or so, and by this time I was looking for one with a neck on the bigger side, so I abandoned the Power Jet (slimmer necks, hotter pickups) and started looking at regular Duo Jets. During my pathological obsession research, I learned I could get a meatier neck with the right specimen. The tolerances for neck depth on the biggest end are closer to what I find comfortable, but the majority of examples were thinner than that, so it would be hard, and it would also depend on either finding one locally, or whether online sellers would be willing to provide measurements. So I set a Reverb alert and bugged every seller that came up. Against all statistical probability, I found a used one at a great price that was--by a modest amount--bigger than the thiccest neck I had seen listed for a Duo Jet anywhere before. I bought it instantly.

It is perfect. The pickups sound incredible, the neck feels like home, it has the best tuning stability of any guitar I've never played, and it looks so good I feel like I'm underdressed when I play it. Here's a pic from the seller because I live in a dungeon with no natural light and can't do it justice.

wonderful choice and wonderful guitar  :thumb: .
The 6128T-59 (the one with filtertrons and tone switch) is at the top of my wantlist since i played it almost a decadade ago in a shop in NY. I don't recall that the neck was too thin, i love fat necks myself, but it's been a long time so :idk:

Thanks!!! I've never spent this much on a piece of gear, so I was a little nervous, but it was totally worth it. I can also sell off a couple cheapies that the Gretsch has made redundant.

I think the 6128T-59 is one of the few Grestches that have a "Vintage V" shape, though I'm unsure what the depth measurements on that are. The depth they aim for on the "Standard U" shape they use on most of the Jets is 21mm at the 1st fret and 23mm at the 12th with a tolerance of approximately 0.5mm. So you'll mostly see a range of 1st fret: 20.5mm - 21.5mm and 12th fret: 22.05mm - 23.05mm. There are some rare outliers, though. For example, I saw a Jet listed on Wildwood Guitars that had 1st fret: 20mm and 12th fret: 21.5mm. And the one I bought is 22mm at the 1st fret and 23.7mm at the 12th fret.

Something came in yesterday. Squier Bullet Mustang FSR.

All setup, changed the strings to 11-52s and set it up to DADGAD. It's impressively awesome.
