Got a Eastwood hooky 6
Great neck, finally one that doesn’t feel cramped
So so balance, bridge needs locktite
Am replacing the pickup with an invader and getting a black pickguard

A nice alternative to the frisson of getting new stuff is getting old stuff back from the repair shop!

My guy fixed up a couple pedals that had gotten knocked about in transport (excited to have my Cutting Room Floor back in action), and fixed a keyboard that I'd gotten on the cheap because of someone else's failed hack with the power connection.

He also put in a momentary infinite feedback switch on this cheap Mag Echo knockoff I'd picked up but had found fairly boring:

And, maybe most excitingly, he did a repair + complete cleanup on this cassette player, which had belonged to my dad.

This does look like better string spacing. Something I struggle with on these. Nice grab!

It makes a world of difference! I’ve been thinking about converting a short scale 5 string bass into a bassvi for a while because of the guitarness of ever other bass vi I have played and always came away feeling limited for how I wanted to play, they are always a compromise it seems, this is a different beast! Now I do think they are over priced but they have no compilation unless you want to pay for a real shergold (and can even find one). I was just lucky no one bid against me so I got it for $800 with cheap shipping. once all my parts show up for fixing it up a bit I’ll post a after shot :thumb:

i went ahead and ordered the rest of the stuff i need to finish the looping board. bought the power supply new (Gator PP8), got the 1440 looper used. was going to get the DOD mini volume pedal because it's small, shallower than most VPs, and has a flat surface but i read reviews on Reverb and many people complained about problems with the mechanism, play in the bearing, and the pedal surface moving from side to side so i got a Dunlop DVP4 instead. also bought that used. i see no conceivable reason to pay 30% more for an item just because it's never been plugged in. it's ugly, but it'll fit and be reliable. i really hate the tread on the treadle, though. it looks like a tire made for downhill mountain bike racing, and not in a good, cool way.

next phase will be getting a small bass rig together so i can, well, play bass through it. i have a 15" Hartke speaker favorited on Reverb which i'll put in a cube-esque cabinet and i'll pick out one of the little 200W-and-up tiny solid-state bass heads. i'm not enough of a Bass Nerd to get all picky about bass amps; i just want something that goes "THUD." i've had my eye on the 15" Hartke with full aluminum cone since the 1980s because it seems like the perfect way to get loud and still have treble content. recommendations welcome. after that i'll get a crossover pedal so i can biamp the looping board output with the bass amp and one of the guitar amps.

i have so much shit going on right now that i had to make a long prioritized list of things i have to deal with in the near future. this was in the top 3, and the easiest to deal with. the bass amp thing probably won't be happening until January at least unless i have a sudden unexpected windfall.

the only DVP toppers i can find online are wood, which would inevitably wear out over time and be even uglier than the existing tread, or orderable from a seller who doesn't keep stock on hand or have an image library to choose from. i don't want to have to talk to a graphic artist to get them to do something, i want something non-ugly i can put in my damn cart. i hate pedal treads in general because they hold dirt like an NRA member holds their eighth 9MM. every year or 2 i have to wash the tread on the EB volume pedal because it gets ugly.

If you get something like Purple Heart or iron bark (it’s a type of eucalyptus they use for anchor shields) it would last a long time… :idk: I keep wanting to find a chunk of old tire to put on my wah.. always seems too much hassle to do though…

Another one from my repair guy, this laser harp a DIY kit I saw on Aliexpress. It was a bit too complicated for me to assemble, so I asked him to put it together for me — and to replace the little speaker it came with with an audio jack instead. Then he designed and 3-D printed the case for it! On its own it makes a fairly basic square wave bloop synth sound, but once I run it into some other stuff, there are possibilities here... (in this case running through a Zoia patch, killing the dry signal)

Nothing radical, at this time
Black pickguard
Seymour Duncan Invader 8 String Pickup
Telecaster knobs / replacing wiring, pots,
Thinking about making a rectangular control plate - I don’t like the shape of stock
Might put a strap button extension on for better balance
Took the crest off the headstock
And, putting on flats :)*
