seriously, though, that's badass. looks like humbuckers with slotted shells like the "Gretschbuckers"?
haha, just born under a bad sign

yeah, they remind me of gretschbuckers, but are supposedly proprietary

we'll see when i yank them out, lol

i've got three sets that might go in - Lollar El Rayos, Fralin Big Single, and Malinoski humbug sized goldfoil. currently leaning El Rayo.... :snax:

No, pickup wired straight to the jack.

I'll see if I can get used to it before I decide whether to change it. :)

having never owned or played an Esquire, i don't know if its tone-switch-esque options are useful or not. the idea of a hot Telecaster pickup direct-injected into the front of an amp is an attractive proposition, though.

I just have the two right now:

2014 Fender Custom Shop 59 Telecaster in Firemist Silver (tuned to Eb)
Fender Player Precision Bass in Tidepool Blue (a very recent acquisition)

Image

Sold off my other guitars during the great gear cull. I would like another guitar for lower tuning, but haven't decided what yet. Plus my money has been going towards pedals lately

If you are thinking downtuned….
I ordered but it will be a while probably april. They do periodic drops of semi custom with short wait times and limited features.

Waaaaayyyyyy too metal for me dude
I'm just thinking another Telecaster dropped to Cb. Most likely it'll be a Squier of some kind for the price. But part of me that wants to put together a Telecaster with an aluminium neck and Fender CS Nocaster pickups. That'd be a pricey exercise however...

The new Vintera II Bass VI in LPB would fit right in. How low will you go?

C flat? isn't that just plain old B with a Mardi Gras mask?

Oh haha, yeah no such thing what am I saying

Well maybe it'll just be some variant of C tuning. Dont really want to go down to baritone tuning, but I guess that's also an option. Who knows. Will have to get a guitar first and see where it ends up :idk:

Picked up a 2nd hand Jaguar this week, super cheap. Never had one before, always wanted one.

It's surf green, and is much more green to the eye, in photos it almost turns daphne blue

Image

I think it's a Squier Vintage Modified, but some hack has put a really bad Fender decal on it, but left the "by Fender" that is usually beneath the Squier logo, so now it says "Fender by Fender". It also looks they literally carved the Squier logo off, rather than sanding it. I think I'll eventually just sand the whole headstock plain, no decals.

I stuck a Mustang bridge on it too. Those Jaguar bridges are awful, the low E just skids around.

Plays and sounds great. Just gotta work on my trem picking, because surf's up!

Gorgeous guitar!!! shame about the headstock but will look cool if you sand it plain and it looks a bit gnarly

God, I fucking hate people who do that. There is a guy who lives near me who does it to literally every Squier he gets, and he gets quite a few. They inevitably end up on Gumtree (our Craigslist equivalent) or course. But it's like bro, if you are gonna buy a Squier, don't pretend its not a Squier. If you have to have Fender on the headstock, just buy a Fender. Like the amount of guitars/gear this guy goes through, he clearly can afford whatever guitar he wants.

He also got an old $300 Canora bass, slapped an Ibanez logo on the headstock and marked it up to $900 because he is a scumbag...

Oh man, that is a sucky thing to do, particularly for the purpose of re-selling and conning the buyer. What a grift. Nothing wrong with having Squier on your headstock either, they're not the flaming garbage heap they were 20+ years ago. They make decent stuff. The Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe ranges are solid instruments. Though if you're gonna take a brand off the headstock, just leave it blank. Blank headstocks look cool.

The seller of this was upfront about it, made it clear it was definitely a Squier of some kind, and it was the owner before him who hacked the Squier off. They've done a pretty wild job of it too. There is literally a Squier shaped hole

Fender by Fender. That's double the Fender. So you can Fender whilst you Fender.
