the new pedals came in. unfortunately, the new Demedash T-120 v2 exhibits the same motorboating interference as the old one did. so that'll get returned shortly and i'll need to start a thread on "what's a good videotape delay?" conversely, the Fjord Fuzz MIME works great though it's not exactly transparent to figure out. FF's only documentation is videos that aren't all that helpful in understanding what's going on, but i'm getting a sense of the two main options and the settings that work on each. i really like having more atmospheric reverbs on the FEB to use in coloring my loops. assuming i can find a videotape delay i like that works on my board, i'll have to do some rearranging to cram a ninth box on the board. i'm pretty sure that if i close everything up towards the right that'll create room for a delay and the two reverbs to sit sideways on the left end of the FEB. i'm not messing with anything until a new delay comes in the door, though...for right now the FEB is working acceptably well though i really miss the damn T-120. i might have to let go of the Boards of Canada sound.

incoming: Pedaltrain Nano MAX for the normie board, Hungry Robot Wardenclyffe Mini. i ran across the Mini via a sale on Reverb and it was cheap, so i checked the only demo of the Mini i could find and it's closer to the T-120 sound than the Cooper Generation Loss.

I found an RE-201 on a bidding sight for about $550. I'm betting with shipping I could get it for about $700-ish total.

It's a japanese bidding website, and it sounds like the person has no idea how to test it. The translated description said it turned on, everything moved, but they couldn't "rewind" the tape. I tried a couple translation services, and none of them made much sense of the "rewind" thing. So, I'm betting this thing hasn't been used in 30 years, and needs thorough servicing (at least).

The bottom line is, do you folks think it would be worth it? I honestly can't tell. I do love delays, and I can't tell if this is just me having fun shopping or if I actually want it. The replicator I have is nice, but it is really annoying to use because it's so hard to get it to make a decent sound. I worry the RE-201 would be the same problem but BIGGER and MORE EXPENSIVE. If that's the case, then I'll pass on it (and post the info here for anyone who's interested).

edit: nvm, on top of considering the potential repair and maintenance, it'd be a pain for me to get it to my current place. So, it's not for me today. Somebody else should snag this, though:

Good for you! You dodged a bullet, honestly. In those kinda cases, the best-solution option is always better if the unit was DOA and/or free (not $500 free, but maybe a couple hundred?), considering the repairs (both to bring it up to speed, as well as to keep it maintained on a regular basis). Your time is probably worth more than all of that is probably worth, but it can always be an adventure if you're into that kind of thing. But even in the best case of it being brought back from the dead, you'd be better off selling it immediately afterward to recoup your losses, let alone actually spend any time playing it. Dwyer from Ohsees I think finally relented and uses a few Mile End pedals (maybe a custom job, from what I can remember), after years of constantly babying his RE-201 on the road, I believe, but he's pretty stubborn (in the greatest way). Commit 2 the bit! Or go also insane doing so :trippy:
Good morning!

It rules. There's no blend control but it just sounds right on any setting. Great filter and saturated sound, one of my favorite scores this year.
