mechbass: or, someone made muse almost interesting

My MechBass' cover of Hysteria by Muse. MechBass was the outcome of my Engineering honors project at Victoria University of Wellington in 2012.

pretty interesting idea, translating midi note data and then using a atmega328 to drive stepper motors for note placement and servos for the picks. also seems to be using some sort of infrared pickup design, since all the magnetic interference from those motors would make traditional pickups useless.

more info here: http://hackaday.com/2012/11/22/mechbass ... fantastic/ or in the pdf linked from the full version of the song (check his other videos).

This.

However,...most overplayed Muse bassline by human fanbois now replicated by mechanical fanboi = :picard:

I was not aware anyone cared enough about Muse to go through all this trouble.

Teach that machine to play some Death From Above 1979 already or anything but Muse.

pretty much exactly how i feel about the song choice. there is also a video where it plays a coldplay song if you want to feel like all his effort was completely wasted.

Haha, so would I. Get that robot some pedals too. Let it rip.

Cool vid tho, if it weren't for the explanation you posted I really would've had no clue what I was looking at.

Also, lol@ Coldplay. Geez robot bass player builder guy, get with it!
