You'll be fiiiine bro. In my experience you can always get by communicating even with zero language in common with someone (and sooo many people speak english anyway that it's rarely necessary). Which is pretty incredible when you think about it!

What's the deal with people that speak certain languages repeating things over and over again?

Like when I play games online, usually DOTA2, or SC2. For example, people that speak English will say "go" when we're timing an attack, while almost every person I have ever played with that speaks Portuguese (although also Spanish, Korean, or sometimes Russian - although not as often in Russian as it is with other languages) will say "go go go go go go go go go go go go go".

Is that normal in a lot of languages? Or is it just an oddball set of people that I have been encountering?

Hahahaha. Sounds like you're playing with Brazilians if they speak Portuguese.
Brazil, I'm sure you're alright, but...your people are the scourge of online games. They come as a wave of corrosion and will wither away any game if their numbers are high enough. Based on how terrible they always are, I'm pretty sure they're the embodiment of Youtube or torrent comments.
It's not uncommon for free MMOs to issue a ban against Brazilian IPs, or to create an entire Brazilian server. HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE

As for the others, dunno, but I have noticed it as well.

There was this Australian company that made a soccer MMO for the Brazilian market a couple of years ago (before the financial crisis so I'm not sure if they are still around) and even during beta the Brazilians would be so into their fake teams that they were spray painting the fakes teams logos on buildings in the city they tested in and eventually there were actual street fights breaking out. They had to cut people from the beta because of it. Mofos are crazy.

My mother refers to her vitamin D pills as "the D".

Just now she said she has a problem swallowing the D.

I can't even... laughing so hard...

Are you going for a proper, identical cover of Arcade Fire's Wake Up?

No, sorry :D I haven't even heard AF in my life

it just needs fucking chime... if it was about recording it, i'd simply overdub with a Nashville tuning guitar... but i'm afraid it will sound dry when we play it live...

rant too serious, sry... we'll not rehearse it any time soon anyway, because it's probably the third new song in line we have prepared... to rehearse after we're done rehearsing the conceptual album/show
