Woah, I've never seen one of those before. I thought of myself as pretty well up on Fryette/VHT, but I've never heard of 30 watt amps from them other than the Memphis.
What's the story with that cable connecting your loop send/return?
I read somewhere if you jump it like that it brings the buffer of the loop into effect. (By no means do I know if this is true, and I know dick about that stuff) but I do notice a more full sound with it jumped, not as shrill anyway

I had a friend that played a Rivera Knucklehead and he did the same.
I have no idea what effect it has but once my VTM is back and functional I'll be looking to do the same.
