I can be playing along and thinking it sounds good, but if I listen to it recorded alongside the metronome click, I want to put all of my gear in a storage unit.

Hahaha exactly. Need a drummer...
Also, fuck cars. Seriously. Pits of money.

I wish I had the balls to sell mine but I don't know where my life is going...

I've been in this exact position myself. I'm still working my way back to where I want to be work-wise (I have an engineering degree, but have been working at a liquor store for a year and a half now), but I can say the following from experience:

1. That shit sucks. I know that feel.
2. Better days are ahead for sure.
3. The only way is forward. It can be scary as hell, seem impossibly hard, incredibly overwhelming and mind-numbingly slow...but it's the only way.

Hang in there dude. Sounds like you could be on the verge of a major breakthrough.

if shit ever gets sorted out. the fucking relocation money, which was supposed to be here on Tuesday, has been in UPS' rabbit hole since Monday with the latest being that the apartment number was wrong...WHEN THEY NEVER EVEN TRIED TO DELIVER IT HERE COS THEY PUT IT ON THE WRONG DAMN TRUCK. the telephone customer service person sent a message to the sort center in Idaho Falls (whose initials are ominously IF) to have them contact me directly by 10 tomorrow. meanwhile, the good ILFer who's going to let me stay with him hasn't answered my PM so i know which days i need to reserve Motel 6 "pet-friendly" rooms where i can let Lulu out of the carrier during the trip. this is making me as anxious as hell, and i already have major anxiety issues. i REALLY don't need another day of work on packing/wait for UPS to show up. i need to be outta this bitch by the 24th.

Myeah, but the woman can only hurt you if you let her.

Unfortunately it's something you open yourself up to just by caring about them.

I'd swap "caring for them" with "depending on them for your own needs." I care about a lot of fucked up people, but it doesn't negatively impact my life much because I don't depend on them for my own sense of self-whatevers. To be with a woman, whether she is the most stable or the most fragile, means you have to be your own person as well. 2 halves do not make a whole.

Fugguhh. This was the source of my anxiety when I was in my recent relationship. In general, I think there are a lot of people who are too closed to each other, and sometimes too selfish in relationships, thus all the drama I hear about all the damn time. It's like everyone wants this ideal thing, but no one is willing to give very much to get it. However I do agree, there Mr. John. I think I agree with the both of you. If you don't feel pain when someone you care about is also in pain or missing from your life, then I'd say that you don't actually care very much, or don't want to open up to another person enough. But if you can't keep your own shit together, on your own, then having another person around isn't going to help you out. You'll most likely drag them into your own problems, which is a lesson I have learned and forgotten a few times already. Fortunately, this last breakup wasn't a "bad" breakup, beyond the fact that we aren't together anymore.

I think there needs to be a "dating and relationship advice" thread.

I have been playing a lot more music in just the past few days since we split up..... On the good side, since she lives in another city, I won't have to spend a bunch of money on gas and extra groceries for weekend stays and stuff. I was drinking a bit more when I would hang out with her, and now I'm thinking of cutting wayyy back again (not that we drank that much anyhow.... I don't think I've had a hangover in a year), so less money spent there. On the down side, it will make it harder to meet new people since I'm living somewhere that I hardly know anyone outside of work who has similar tastes.... Aaaaaand, my tastes and personality are so weird... My interests tend to attract the kinds of people I don't wanna hang out with, namely: people who drink a lot, smoke a lot, and do a lot of drugs. I don't have anything against those things, but I hardly do them anymore and I do need time and energy to be creative.

Sigh. whatever. Apathy for now.

EGG SACK TLY!!! "Boo hoo, my husband/wife is not affectionate (i.e. does not get snuggly/put out on demand)!!!" Meanwhile, all they do is jab and barb each other to death. Gee, I wonder why the lovin' don't flow like Land'O'Lakes. "He/she never listens!" Meanwhile, all you do is talk. SMH
