Holy Schnikes wrote:Got my V2 back from my tech today, so excited! He went through it methodically reflowing solder, changing caps, adding new toggles, installing new KT88s, adjusting bias, fixing the reverb jack, adding new (vintage correct) pilot lights, updating 3-prong plug, disconnecting polarity "death cap", and so on and so on. Nothing major but it needed a check up and it's 100% ready for the long haul now.
A good friend of mine retolexed the headshell and replaced all hardware and grill cloth. Then a local screen printer redid the control panel for me since most of the labeling worn off years ago and had since been replaced by marker scrawls. Couldn't find a good pic or pdf file anywhere of that V2 control plate graphic so he used my buddy's V4 as an example and created one from scratch using some graphic design program. Turned out super nice!
Here's a blurry ass photo of the before...
And after...
This is fuckin' so fuckin' cool.....

Thanks! It's like night and day cosmetically, really happy with the end result. I've been after a V2 forever and this one sounds amazing, a def keeper. No hum or hiss or anything, just huge cleans and tons of headroom, perfect pedal amp. I didn't mind throwing a little money into it to get it looking good again, inside and out, and ensuring it runs problem free for a long time to come.
