I dug that. I see that its from Cocoa Florida. I used to play down there a lot with one of my old bands at the Sports Page. It was right next to some strip club and they always let us in the VIP room for free whenever we'd come down. I loved that place.

I have no idea where they got Cocoa, FL from lol. We're all from Salinas, California. Bandcamp is up to some funny business there. Although, none of us use our real names in that band and we don't play shows, so it's not like it matters.

EDIT: I think maybe we typed "outer space" and they translated that to "Cocoa, Florida". You've been there Conky, you'll have to tell me if it's a fair interpretation.

Corey, an Audio Engineering club at Cal Poly SLO is doing a bunch of audio electronic building workshops, a page back there is the video for the one they are building this weekend which is just a fuzz face with silicone diodes instead of germanium, but their next build is this:

We're also going to be working on something I think you'd get a kick out of called the MOAD (Mother of all Distortions) if you're into that stuff. It'll have clipping stages with variable clipping thresholds on both sides of the waveform, and a two-band bass/treble tone control with variable corner frequencies between each clipping stage. It'll be a beastly thing with like 40 knobs and switches.

Too many knobs for me. I need caveman pedals. One large dial with a clearly marked line. A footswitch with enough clearance for me to hit with a club or large femur bone helps.

Not really, I usually memorize my settings pretty easily, but 40 is a bit much for me lol. I'd get one sound I really love and leave it there forever probably. Sounds neat though.

Yeah its meant as a studio tool first and foremost, im going to have to rig mine up special with a footswitch if I end up wanting to use it live...but even then...id probably just find a setting I like and try and build a standalone pedal with one knob that does the same tone haha

That's a service for which I'd pay top dollar. Send me a huge ass pedal with a million tones, let me find my perfect setting, plug it in via USB or somethind and take a snap shot of the settings. Then I send back the big motherfucker and get a one knob version. Slight upgrade for one knob with a tone stack or gain control lol.

It was wonderful to spend some time with ya! Thank ya for breakfast and letting me play all your amps.

So I'm visiting Phoenix, got stoned and went to a bunch of guitar shops with my boiz. Found this and had to have it. I'd brought my strat just to jam but it had to go.

I had a similar Yamaha guitar 15 years ago, loved it. Didn't get sacrificed to the gods of gear lust, for once. We practiced in this crappy detached garage/partially furnished party pad on our drummer's parents' property and one of his meth head buddies broke in and stole everything.

This is correct.

One of my best friends moved (back) to Australia a couple of years ago after spending like 20 years in America. He has always said it was pretty much like the South

AngryGoldfish wrote:My sister's boyfriend, he's a really good friend of mine. Over the last year we've become pretty close, but he has this weird affection with Florida that I don't understand. Well, I do. He sees Florida as cheap housing with swimming pools, wall walls and huge kitchens, and of course Disney Land, which he adores. All of these things are true. €200,000 will get you a mansion in Florida, while here it'll get you a decent semi-detached in a new housing estate. Although many wealthy and successful people flock there for the good weather and accessibility, a lot of unpleasant people also flock there, people with serious delusions and aggressive tendencies. It's a breeding ground for racism and bigotry. Of course, like anywhere, it'll have its beautiful areas, and that's probably all he's seen, so I do understand where he's coming from.

And thanks for your thoughts on the Dunwich. Although I haven't gigged in around a year and my needs have somewhat changed, I know that I'll eventually get back into it and will once again require a lightweight amp to cart around and perform with. For now, I'm playing a lot of guitar in the house where it's more comfortable, so a quieter and less 'amp' looking platform to jam on in the house is what I need, and the Railway 15 should theoretically serve this purpose just as well as performing out and about. It'll be small, only 15 watts, have a master volume, and will be stained red and look somewhat more like furniture than a snakeskin Soldano.

I think most people love the idea of Florida. Like I love the idea of southern California but would fucking hate living there. Cheap housing is definitely abundant here though.

ShaolinLambKiller wrote:I'd still say Ampeg SS's over the Orange. I still find it just has that extra edge over the Orange CR120. The main thing the Orange has for it is it's brand new and you can find em very very easily. The SS's you'll be investing in both finding and then the money to secure.

True. Maybe I'll keep a couple hundo stashed away in case one pops up on craigslist.
